The document outlines the goals and plans of a student organization called Students Against Sexual Assault. The organization aims to eliminate sexual assault on campus, support survivors, and advocate for policy changes through establishing an official registered student organization. It has received support from the campus community and hosted a successful event. Moving forward, the group wants to register as an RSO, promote at Quad Day in the fall, and begin holding meetings next semester to further its mission.

1. Our vision is to eliminate sexual assault on the UIUC
campus and have survivors feel safe sharing their
stories. We also want to be the driving force behind
having sexual assault cases handled better by the
administration here at UIUC.
Students Against Sexual Assault is currently in the
process of becoming a registered student organization at
UIUC. Once the RSO is created, we hope to achieve our
mission by becoming a well-known outlet and source of
assistance for survivors of sexual assault. Furthermore,
the organization hopes to impact the university community
through advocating for various policy changes to benefit
those affected by sexual assault.
People here at UIUC support sexual assault awareness
and think that this RSO would be a great opportunity to
effectively spread awareness. Students outside of this
class also want to be involved and help with the RSO and
its development.
We hosted the “It Happens Here at UIUC” event on April
7th that attracted over 300 attendees. Furthermore,
the event has been selected to receive the Women’s
Resource Center’s “2015 Program of the Year Award.”
This event has chartered a lot of conversation and
if we establish this RSO by the fall, we can use that
conversation to obtain membership.
By the end of the summer, we want to have the RSO up
and running as well as register for Quad Day in order
to expose our RSO to more students. We would also
like to have planned meetings by the beginning of next
semester.

Students Against Sexual Assault
Our mission is to facilitate meetings/programs in order
to spread awareness about sexual assault, support
survivors of sexual assault, and work towards making
policy changes on the University of Illinois at Urbana-
Champaign campus by establishing a registered student
organization.
