2. WHO IS ATATURK?
■ "ATATURK" meaning "the father of Turks".
■ Mustafa Kemal ATATURK was an Ottoman and
Turkish army officer, revolutionary statesmen, writer,
and the first President of Turkey. He is the most
credited with being the founder of the Republic of
Turkey.
■ Mustafa Kemal was born in 1881, in Salonika,
then a district of Ottoman Empire.
■ It was a great achievement since he created a young
and modern state from the ruins of empire.
4. HIS LEARNING INTERESTS
■ As a child, he was especially proficient in the field of
Mathematics. He was a good student. His mat
teacher give to him new name "Kemal" meaning of
"perfect" in Turkish.
■ Also, he was interested in literature, history and
military.
5. HIS LEARNING STYLE
■ While searching and presenting Atatürk, his love of
reading shouldn't be ignored. Reading was an
important part of his daily life. He was reading books
even at fronts during the wars.
6. HIS LEARNING STYLE
■ Ataturk believed in the necessity of learning a
foreign language. So he learnt French. With the
support of close friends, he recognized French
philosophers and he started to be interested in
history and politics.
7. HIS MILITARY LIFE
■ Ataturk's enthusiastic patriotism was triggered
during his high school years when Ottoman army
won a victory over Greeks in 1897 but didn't quite
enjoy the benefits of this victory at peace table.
8. MILITARY CAREER
■ He joined the army as a young officer. He fought
in famous Çanakkale (Dardanelles
and Gallipoli Wars). Then he became the chief
commander of the Turkish Independence War.
Fighting on many fronts, he led his forces to victory
against rebels and invading armies.
9. MODERN TURKEY
■ Then, Atatürk invited all of his supporters to Ankara,
he opened the Turkish Grand National Assembly,
which also determined the political regime of the
new country. He founded the new government. He
made some revolutoins.
10. EDUCATION
■ Ataturk believed in the necessity of education.
■ Firstly, Ataturk used education as a vehicle to
reconstruct the nation and raise its cultural level
and prosperity.
11. ATATURK'S REFORMS
■ He made both government and education secular,
gave equal rights to women with men and he took
necessary measures to advance art, science,
agriculture and industry. He created a new political
and legal system.
12. SABİHA GÖKÇEN
■ Sabiha Gökçen, one of the adopted daughters of
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
■ She was the world's first female fighter pilot.
13. ON NOVEMBER 10, 193∞
■ On November 10, 1938, following an illness of
a few months, the national liberator and the
Father of modern Turkey died. But his legacy to
his people and the world endures.
■ His mausoleum is in Ankara.
