TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION: Mr. Habib Ali
I know Mr. Habib Ali for about three years. In 2013-2015 he was a student in my classes in the Bachelor of Engineering (BE)
program Electronics and Computer Engineering. In addition to close interaction with the student during his taking my
courses, I also had numerous opportunities to observe him and communicate with him on different matters in my capacity of
being the Program Coordinator and Associate Head of the School of Engineering and Advanced Technology at Albany
campus of Massey University. I also had a privilege of being invited to visit his house and experience his hospitality during
the New Year celebration as well as to have rather frequent (though normally brief) social interactions with Habib and his
classmates who came to New Zealand from overseas. Finally, I do maintain links with my former students, including Habib,
after their graduation. All of this, I believe, has provided me with a sufficient ground for the below evaluation of personality,
abilities, and strengths of Mr. Habib Ali.
Mr. Habib Ali is a capable, enthusiastic and active young person of pleasant and friendly character. In many respects he
was ahead of his classmates at the University – he had well-developed study targets, and he moved towards them steadily
and by working fast and smart. Comparing with over 40 students of his cohort I would rate Habib to be in the top 20%. His
particular strength was in the area of computer engineering as well as in implementation and application of hardware and
software systems. He has also got considerable real-world practical skills and engineering experience acquired during his
industrial internships and the final year project development that are the integral parts of the BE programme at Massey
University.
Mr. Habib Ali has got a developed degree of self-confidence, which has based on his good study results and active
participation in various extra curriculum and social activities. Yet, Habib is the person easy to work with. He is open towards
new knowledge, and thus he respects people and learns from of them. He is approachable and friendly. During the years of
Habib's studying with us, I did not sense any problems or tensions in his communications with the classmates. The majority
of our 3rd- and 4th-year project assignments are of a small group type. From my observation of his project teams, he can be
a well-contributing team player, especially if he sees that the team leader is of higher qualification than him. At the same
time, if and where required, he can confidently take over the leadership, and be successful in his management and
supervision over the group.
Mr. Habib Ali is quite a motivated person with a good initiative and drive. As far as I know, it was mainly his decision to
choose to study Electrical and Computer Engineering degree (which is among the hardest degree programmes at Massey
University). And he progressed in his study through the course quite well. On the 4th year of the degree study often I saw
him working additional hours in our Electronics Labs as he aimed at achieving results to be proud of.
Habib has got a good leadership potential. He is capable of making grounded prioritisation of the tasks and actions by
selecting the most important issues out of numerous ones. It allows him then eventually resolve problems, and to find a
required optimal solution. His academic competence, combined with the energy, friendliness, and ability to encourage
people around him to work together towards solving problems, give me a sound basis to grade his management potential as
quite a good one.
My overall impression is that Mr. Habib Ali is a strong candidate in the important aspects of the engineering profession. I do
not hesitate in recommending him for his first professional engineering job position, and I would like to wish him the best
success and luck in his career development.
Yours sincerely
