To Whom It May Concern:
I’m writing this letter on behalf of Mr. Fan Liang who is applying to be a Delphi software engineer. Mr.
Liang received his Master degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering program at University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth, and Bachelor degree from Information Security Department, Northwestern
Poly-technical University, Xi’an, China. Mr. Liang is a promising engineer with long time working
experiences in the field of software engineering, and I am pleased to strongly support his application.
Please allow me to briefly introduce myself. I received my Ph.D. in Computer and Electronic
Engineering from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 2008. Since that time I have been employed
in a variety of capacities. I was a member of the Research Scientist at Motorola Research Center
(now Google). At Motorola, I worked in the research division, Bell Labs, conducting research in
software engineering and testing of speech recognition cell phone. In my present capacity, I serve as
an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Lawrence Technological
University, Southfield, Michigan, USA, where I instruct courses and specialize in telecommunication.
Currently, my research interests include solving technical problems related to wireless communication
networks, pattern recognition and multimedia signal processing. I am an IEEE senior member. I have
published more than 50 papers and peer reviewed more than 200 international journal and
conference papers in this area.
I have become quite familiar with Mr. Fan Liang since he was one of the students of my collaborators
several years ago. I’ve also been his university advisor when he was working for Dephi(Troy) as an
intern. We have had a long time discuss during our collaboration and I am deeply impressed by his
professions and enthusiastic. Through these, I have had a chance to examine Mr. Liang’s working
capabilities.
Before coming to USA, Mr. Liang has been working for the Electric Power Company in Shannxi China
as a software system engineer for more than six years. As an experienced system analyst, Mr. Liang
is very systematic and meticulous, designing various complicate software systems, for example, long-
distance video conference system, and emergency system of large area. He has been a humble
learner, precisely following every direction from the team leader. He is always a positive team player
and would like to share his experience with the team at any moment. He is also a very highly
motivated worker and would direct all his energies into learning a new topic.
2. During the study in the top ranked University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, MA,USA, he has taken
many classes in area of Software Engineering and reletive areas, for example, Computer Systems,
Operating Systems, Fault-Tolerant Computing, Computer System Perform, Internet Security, C/C++
Language, Database programming, Software Reliability Engineering, Independent study, which built
up very strong knowledge background and prepared him well in this area. I’ve read his published
IEEE paper “Network Monitoring System Design under LAN”, which shows his excellent problem-
solving potential.
Personally, I have found Fan to be an extraordinary positive young man. Mr. Fan Liang has been
serving as the colonel of symphony orchestra, and the captain of Basketball team of the University,
which shows his leadership and excellent capacity of difficulty solving .He works well with others and
has good communication skills. Mr. Fan Liang is also an excellent musician with fabulous
personalities. He gets along with everybody and is always willing to lend a hand. I am very happy to
have him as a friend and colleague.
I strongly support his application to be a software engineer in your company. At this point in his life, it
provides him an unparalleled and timely opportunity to be in a top-notch company and to work with a
leading expert in this area. I believe his fruitful learning experience, as well as his wonderful
personalities will promise him a brilliant software engineer in your company. This, coupled with his
industrial background and love for programming, gives him much potential for succeeding as a
software expert.
