The document discusses how a movie product both follows and challenges conventions. It follows conventions by telling a slice of life story with relatable characters and stereotypes. It challenges conventions by having the main character make a horror movie within the movie, creating an uncommon setting that deceives audiences into thinking they are watching a different genre. The movie represents young adult social groups that spend much of their time on social media and addresses social issues like bullying in schools and rivalry between young adults.
2. How does your product use or
challenge conventions?
Following conventions
Many movies nowadays are based on stories about life,
in this way, my movie follows convention as it falls
under the category of “Slice of life”.
The movie shall be containing characters of which the
audience can relate to.
The movie shall also contain various stereotypes which
reinforces the way in which people think about certain
groups.
3. Challenging Conventions
In the plot, the main character focuses mostly on
creating a Horror movie. By doing this I am creating a
movie within a movie, a setting that is uncommon and
unconventional.
The movie contains scenes creating a false atmosphere
allowing the audience to be deceived into believing
they are watching a movie of a different genre.
How does your product use or
challenge conventions?
4. How does it represent social
groups or issues?
My movie opening represents the young adult social
group who spend the majority of their time currently
on social media.
The main character approaches his peers for their
opinion on his work/ progress in making his movie.
Maybe he does this because he believes the older
generation are not in sync with today’s modern
lifestyle and how technology has reshaped it.
Some of the social issues that my movie addresses are
bullying within a school environment as well as rivalry
between young adults.
