To All Those Who Attended My Session on “Engaging Today’s Employee”:

During the session I was asked “What is a good book that I would recommend about
employee engagement”? I replied that I did not have one to recommend. However, I
do have the following suggestions for you.

For years I have trained our staff on FISH Philosophy principals: “Be there, Make their
Day, Play and Choose your attitude”. All our new hires are trained in FISH Philosophy
and our Managers in LeaderFISH! LeaderFISH addresses coaching, mentoring,
accountability, etc; but of course I add my own flair to it. The curriculum is good, so the
book would probably be worth reading as well.

During the session I talked about Star 12. Star 12 gives unlimited access to audio
conferences and is a great way to develop staff and managers. They have numerous
topics and you and your entire team can listen together and get some good information.

So how do you run an employee engagement program on a shoe string budget? I
would recommend your local dollar store and Oriental Trading-
http://www.orientaltrading.com. Both have great deals, certificates, small gifts of
appreciation, etc. I recommend stocking up and putting them in your “employee
engagement toolkit”.

The curriculum is good, so the book would probably be worth reading as well. During the session I talked about Star 12.
