2. I began implementing my contents page
design using InDesign.
I began by inserting a black
border at the top of the page
which would make my title
stand out.
3. I then inserted the magazine title, using the
‘place’ tool and positioned this in the top left
hand corner like my design suggested.
I then drew a line, using the line
feature on the left hand tool bar. I
then changed this to the same red
as the title using the colour eye
dropper and increased the weight of
the line.
4. I then cloned the line and placed another
one under the black banner.
I then placed the contents title, which
was created in InDesign.
5. I then moved the contents page title and
positioned it at the top of the page, in line
with the magazine title as that is considered
good design.
I then centred the title and added
the magazine slogan as well as
the date and issue number of the
magazine. I used the same fonts
which were used on the front
cover yet changed the colour from
red, which was featured on the
front page, to white using the right
hand toolbar.
6. I then placed the three chosen images
into the contents page and placed the
two similar images next to each
other, as my design suggested. I then
placed the larger of the three images
underneath, spreading it over the whole
part of the page, obeying the rule of
thirds.
I then began to insert the text for the
contents page. I aimed for the page
to look full, similar to the
BILLBOARD magazine, which I
used for inspiration.
7. I then inserted the numbering for
the feature bar and changed the
colour to red, which not only
matched the colour scheme which
was present on the front page but
additionally fits the colours present
in the main contents page image.
The main text was then also
inserted slightly below the
numbering for the feature bar. I
changed the font to match the font
of the music magazine slogan and
the font on the front page.
8. I continued to do this for the whole
contents page bar. I ensured the
font was all consistent by using
Egyptian for the font. I changed
the numbering to the same red
present in the magazine title.
I then added another line, to break
up the page, into the rule of thirds
and changed the weight of the line
to 3pt.
9. Then, using the same font,
adventurer, that had been used for
the subtitle and on the front page
banner, I added the beginning of
the columns, which added
symmetry and conformed to my
specific research as stated in my
designs.
I then entered the remainder of the
text into the page to create the ‘full’
look I was trying to achieve. My
contents page draft was then
complete.
