A conscientious individual who is able to communicate at all levels to a high standard
and work on own initiative.
A retired Metropolitan Police officer having worked for over 20 years within the
Traffic Department and Specialist Commercial Vehicle Unit, undertaking roadside
enforcement, responding to incidents and engagement in National and International
joint operations. Examined motor vehicles of all categories during roadside
enforcement and as part of investigations following serious and fatal collisions,
preparing reports for defence and prosecution cases.
Was part of a small team that introduced a European initiative into the UK involving
interaction with professional drivers and hauliers on a non-enforcement basis, raising
awareness of road safety issues and address concerns at a driver level.
Conducted Work Related Road Risk compliance audits and education of drivers and
companies, conducted audits for membership to the ‘TfL’ Fleet Operator Recognition
Scheme.
Was MPS representative on two National groups concerned with commercial
transport enforcement and the carriage of dangerous goods, was secretary for the
Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Group.
Co-ordinated and supervised HSE prohibitions issued within the London area to
transport companies nationwide involved in the carriage of dangerous goods, liaison
with HSE and was regularly called upon to advise and assist fellow officers and
companies in these matters bringing about a satisfactory resolution.
Drives HGV’s and PCV’s commercially, both in the UK and abroad, delivers Driver
Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) training courses under the current EU
legislative requirements and assesses drivers in all aspects of their working
environment.
Is a qualified National and International transport manager for road haulage and
passenger operations, holds other relevant qualifications keeping informed of changes
in current legislation and trends through professional organisations, is keen to
promote safe working practices and environments while raising the profile of the
transport sector. A member of the IAM & trade organisations.
