The Strategy
Build the Perfect Platform
GoCanvas Senior Mobile Consultants worked with Brent Davis, General
Manager of AB Moving, when he began looking at the Canvas platform in
2013. Davis identified the following criteria for a solution:
• Eliminate use of paper for jobs
• Transmit data direct from office to movers devices instantly
• Test mobile versions Bill of Lading and Damage Report form
The goal for AB moving was to speed up and streamline the process of filling
out the data intensive moving documents. They also wanted to ensure that all
the information was filled out every time, and that pictures could document
any potential liabilities.
The Results
Process Improvement
Today, AB Moving now schedules and assigns 100s of jobs per month from the
GoCanvas dispatch manager. Field staff now receive job information and
alerts on their phones in real-time. GoCanvas has helped to improve the
on-site ex-perience with the customer by giving the ability to capture digital
signatures via tablet and take credit card payments with instant e-receipts.
This on-site automation has led to $125K savings in credit card processing in
just one year.
Reducing Liability
Using GoCanvas mobile forms with required field functionality has allowed
AB Moving to avoid fines from incomplete Bill of Lading forms, which
legally require a signature every single time. The image capture functionality
allows field staff to photograph items before and after a move, allowing
them to properly cite damage and avoid false compensation claims. They are
also able to pull all this data into a spreadsheet and measure which crews
are causing the most damage during moves, and address them properly
through train-ing. The best part is that all the data is automatically stored
digitally on the cloud, accessible at any time. This has led to a $50K savings
annually in data re-entry.
“We would print out and lay out every bill of lading document on
the floor, and the movers would come in and pick them up,” Davis
recalls with a cringe. “If it was raining outside, they would come
in and get the papers all wet. It was awful.”
