The Strategy
Streamlining Data Collection
Canvas Enterprise Consultants worked with Royal Cargo through Globe Telecom’s IT
Enabled Services Group to understand which elements of their existing work processes
would benefit from transferring to mobile. Consultants provided::
• Analysis of the existing “Track and Trace” process in order to build a mobile platform
that captured information to show a fast, live, and accurate delivery schedule
• Creation out of a new Proof of Delivery (POD) mobile form to transmit delivery desti-
nation details to a backend system to update each POD milestone accordingly
It was important to the Royal Cargo team that the Canvas platform assist in giving them
insight into the day to day activity of their drivers and field personnel. Their paper process
was completely unpredictable, and Canvas made it possible to collect, share, and learn
from their data in real-time.
The Results
Mobile Reporting
Now instead of collecting critical information on paper, Royal Cargo uses smart phones
and tablets to collect job information. Information is stored in the cloud for easy reference
and sharing. When filling out reports today, drivers are easily able to collect:
• Current date, time and location where the shipment was delivered
• E-signature of each consignee
• Real-time photo where each shipment was received
• Instantly send out the information via a data-enabled device
Expanded Usage
Not only does Canvas support Royal Cargo’s delivery drivers, but has grown to be a
global solution for them. Royal Cargo has customized the platform to support specialized
logistic services including: international and domestic freight forwarding, warehousing
and distribution, projects and heavy lift, business process outsourcing, customs clearance
and brokerage, liquid transportation, shipping agencies, trucking service, and logistics
solutions for clinical research and development
We realized the value of using Canvas mobile forms primarily for our
PODs to customers. For the most important requirement — that the
final link in the supply chain has to be updated and communicated in
real time — we thought of utilizing Canvas and implemented ePOD
with our deliveries, and today we’re reaping the results of a faster and
