What are virtual teams?
They come in many “flavours”:

1. Remote teams: separated by distance and
   communication is through technology.
2. Matrix teams: individuals work across functional silos,
   have multiple reporting lines and competing goals.
3. Virtual reporting teams: individuals only spend a
   proportion of their time working on the team and are
   members of multiple teams. Manager may have „dotted
   line‟ control or may operate purely through influence.

   teams bring the additional challenges of
   working across cultures and time zones.
5. Extended teams: Extended teams increasingly include
   customers, suppliers or partners outside the organization
   who need to collaborate effectively.
