Short Note for the readers
My slides are not original at all!
I prepared these presentations also employing material/images/slides/videos from books,
presentations found on the web and youtube too.
In case I lost some reference, first of all my apologizes to the authors and please inform me
in order to correctly acknowledge them.

What is Viscosity? (in one minute!)
Viscosity is the resistance of a fluid to flow
molecules experience friction due to molecular interactions among them
larger viscosity larger force required to induce movement
key for process involving fluid flow

Contact angle goniometry (CAG)
1. Drop of water (other liquid) in contact with surface;
2. Angle between the film and liquid droplet measured.
While CAG cannot determine the exact molecular composition, it
can provide a rough estimate of both film quality and overall
hydrophilic character.
Measured angle reflects DEGREE OF SURFACE ORDER, and
can indicate incorporation of functional groups.
Ex. n-alkanethiolate SAM: contact angle slightly different from
water droplet resting upon close-packed, methyl-terminated
surface versus droplet resting upon disordered and thus exposed
methylene tails and interior of the film.
For more hydrophilic surfaces (i.e., –OH, –COOH, or –CO2CH3-
terminated surfaces), the water droplet will make a smaller contact
angle as the water will more effectively wet the hydrophilic surface.
Conversely, a drop of a neat liquid such as hexadecane against the
surface of an n-alkanethiolate SAM will have a very low contact
angle, as the hydrocarbon liquid will spread across the surface of the
film.
