My Passion In Computer Science
1. My Passion In Computer Science
I still remember the day I first used the computer at my uncle's house in the summer of 2000. I was just 8 years aged only. What a televisionâlike
object could do with the interaction of a keyboard amazed me. From that day, I believe, deep passion on computer grew inside me. A few years later,
once I got acquainted with the internet, Computer Science became my most favorite topic. Being amazed by the power of the internet, I took a Web
Development course after finishing high school. Since then I took Web Development seriously, indulged myself in it and decided to study Computer
Science in university.
From the very beginning of undergraduate studies, I have been one of the most excellent programmer of my class. Programming and related courses
much more interesting than others to me. Specifically Programming Languages, Programming Language Structure, Compiler Design courses helped
me to have a solid understanding of different types of programming languages and their insights. Besides I learned to organize any problem into small
parts and solve any problem much efficiently from Data Structure and Algorithm course. Alongside academic studies, I was also involved in
professional Web Development and extraâcurricular activities from the freshman year. I found particular interest in Frontâend Development and started
attending different apps competitions to compete with the topânotch developers in order to push my limits further. Google Dev Fest, World Bank Water

and early 1960's, it has become on of the leading industries in the world today. Developed through the technological architecture of electrical
engineering and the computational language of mathematics, the science of computer technology has provided considerable recognition and financial
gain for many of its well deserving pioneers. Originally conceived as an organizational solution to the massive amounts of information kept on nothing
more than paper, computers have evolved and advanced to become a common part of modern day life. In the early days of the computer age, the

It is essentially the brain of the computer and though it is the main determining factor in the processing power of the computer as a whole, many other
parts of the machine are just as important in overall performance. Many people don't know this and that is how computer corporations have cheated
people out of their money for so many years by selling them cheep systems with high megahertz numbers for the processors in them. This is one
reason for the success of the computer industry. When people find out that they have been cheated, they will try to learn more about the product and
probably end up spending more money next time. Either way the computer companies always win. A career in the field ofcomputer science has been
proven to be a worthwhile direction for any young enthusiast and this tren is looking just as bright in the new millenium. Computer science and
technology has much to offer in anyone of its many career paths. Whether working with a large multinational corporation or a smaller private company
on computer hardware or software in engineering or programming, the possibilities and opportunities are endless and are increasing everyday. One
reason the computer industry is so promising is that virtually every industry in the world depends on computers to operate. This creates an increasingly
large and permanent demand for computer hardware, software, and the technical knowledge to create and use them. Computer games have

students to history majors, Stevens makes sure to highlight the importance of understanding technology in today's world. Computer science is one of
the more prominent majors outside of the field of engineering and the Stevens freshmen in computer science have created a discourse community for all
those taking entry level computer science courses. According to American Linguist John Swales, a discourse community is defined by a group of
people with a means of entry maintained by following set goals and rules, as well as, communicating using genres and lexis unique to the community.

Although the GroupMe is the main form of communication of the group as a whole, there are other opportunities for members to interact. Often
computer science students will hang out with each other and complain about or do work together. Any interactions between the members of the
community contain several different lexicons of the group that range from using just the course number to refer to classes without the preceding
letters to referring to certain instructors as "members of the cabal". The latter of the two comes from a homework assignment where students had to
prove logically which instructors where part of the cabal, defined by the assignment as people plotting to make ridiculously hard quizzes that
needed to be answered in ancient hieroglyphics. This term is also conversely used to point out which instructors are against the cabal. Another
important lexicon is "you are your own baby" which comes from a lecture where it was proven that if everyone loves your baby and your baby loves
no one but you, you are your own baby. This lexicon is also used as a meme within the community whenever things do not make sense. Other lexicons
that are more normal, include anything related to programming such as "big oh notation" and "trees". Typically, people think of trees as big things
with green leaves but to a computer science student it could also mean a data

4. A Career Of Computer Science
A Career in Computer Science As a child, I said I was going to pursue many different careers because I had no guidance in this area and a head full
of imagination. As I got older, I had to narrow my options. In high school, my 10th grade teacher asked me the burning question...."What career do you
plan on taking up?". I couldn't answer the question and from that point on, I started learning about myself, what I like, and what I was skilled in. I
came to the conclusion that I would pursue a career in the technology/computer science field. "Computer Science covers the core concepts and
technologies involved with how to make a computer do something" (Janzen 1). I plan on becoming a software engineer. "Software Engineering focuses
on how to design and build software in teams" (Janzen 1). I chose this specified career due to external influences. I took a couple of technology
classes in high school ranging from graphic design to AP programming. All of my technology teachers said I had a gift for computers. I'm not too keen
on them but it comes very natural for me. I started entering in contests and things of that nature to become more comfortable with programming.
Another factor would have to be the salary. The entryâlevel salary for a software engineer starts at $70,000 (BS Comp Sci 2). I know they say "pick
something you not and not for the money", but computers comes easy to me so why not make money from it too. Also, my father owns his own

I have always been fascinated by the field of computer science, and that led to me pursuing a degree in Computer Science from North Carolina
State University (NCSU). While at NCSU I had the chance to work under a computer science professor and learn a great deal from him. As a result of
my prior research experience I believe that I will be a perfect fit for this Research Experience. Research has been an essential part of my academic life,
and doing research has both increased my critical thinking, and provided me with opportunities to learn, and effect a change. Doing research has helped
me understand what to expect from a career in the computer science field, prepared me for a future in computer science. Last year and a half I have
built a network of professional connects, and learned to solve difficult and complex problems, and I want to continue that with this Research Experience.
My first exposure to research was when I joined EnvironMentors, a science and environmental science based mentoring program funded by the
National Council for Science and the Environment. After joining the club in sophomore year of high school, I had the chance to work with and
receive mentoring from two graduate students from West Virginia University(WVU). During the course of the year I worked on coming up with a
hypothesis to research, designing an experiment, collecting data, writing a short paper, and creating a poster. The title of the research was '' Low pH

Computer Engineering is more like a parent branch which involves both Hardware and Software concepts. Computer Engineering encompasses
processing concepts, hardware performance, algorithms, hardware architecture, graphics, programming languages, machine learning etc.
On the other hand, Software Engineering can be considered as a part of Computer Engineering field where it takes into account concepts like Software
Architecture, Software design, Software scalability, Software testing etc.

The Role of Information Systems in Business
There are very many types of information systems. Classification of information systems follows the organizational levels in which they are used or
installed for use. For instance, there are management information systems; some of which will be covered in this project report. Management information
systems (MIS), helps businesses meet their business objectives. Almost all organizations and businesses today use management information systems; be
it large, small, startup or an established multiânational. This is for the sole reason that information systems have evolved from just being a tool to gain
competitive advantage for businesses, to a vital tool, a necessity in the digital age we live in. Management Information Systems help managers make
betterâinformed decisions and communicate with their superiors, as well as with all the stakeholders in the businesses their organizations are involved
in.
The fact that companies are divided in hierarchical organizational levels, there are information systems to be used in every other level. Management
Information Systems are used by all managers in all levels of organizations. Operational managers use management information systems, management
level managers do too, and the strategic managers are no exception either. The need for the information systems, however, varies at every level of the

industry 1.Continuous advancements: The computer industry has grown very quickly and there are constantly new technologies being introduced.
Although they may be helpful, it becomes very costly having to constantly upgrade hardware and software to the attest and greatest. This is challenging
for businesses that rely on computers to function properly. As a result of this, it can also be challenging for technology manufacturing businesses like
Apple or Samsung because they have to try to get the end user to continue buying their new products every year so they have to constantly think of new
ways to intrigue their customers. 2.Research and Development: As briefly mentioned in my previous continuous advancements point, Due to the
fastâpaced computer industry, companies must spend large amounts of money to constantly find new ways to improve their product and keep ahead of
the competition. Lots of technology companies like intel, NVidia, AMD, Samsung and Apple release a new line of products every year so they must
continuously pour money into researching new advancements that can be made, if they do not then the competition will be ahead of them which can
severely impact sales. 3.Data protection: With the technology advances there also comes risks. One of the bigger risks is data security. As we become

earlier. The field of science has grown extensively due to the development of the computer. Computers have moved into every nook and cranny of our
daily lives. People use them in education, retailing, law enforcement, transportation, agriculture, homes, medicine, and an endless number of other
areas. Scientists have to develop new programs and methods of repair for these computers (Development).

They developed COBAL, an acronym for Common Business Oriented Language, to satisfy the basic needs of businesses. This is because businesses
usually deal in whole numbers or dollar and cents data accurate to only two decimal places. These applications require simpler mathematical
calculations than are needed for scientific applications (Bronson and Menconi).
Teaching students the basics of programming has a unique factor that forced scientists to develop a third and forth language. Scientists designed these
languages to be straightforward and easy to understand. In the 1960s, Dartmouth College developed the BASIC language. Basic is ideal for creating
small, easily developed, interactive programs. The acronym BASIC stands for Beginners Allâpurpose Symbolic Instruction Code. Scientists developed
Pascal in the late 1970s to provide students with a firmer foundation in modular and structured programming than could be provided by BASIC.
Scientists named the Pascal language after the mathematician Blaise Pascal (Bronson and Menconi).
Scientists developed the language 'C' last. They developed this language because Pascal did not allow escape from structured modules. This was
required for realâworld projects. The 'C' language can be used for creating simple, interactive programs; for producing sophisticated applications, such
as designing operating systems; and for both business and scientific programming applications

school are not expecting to be in a class that teaches coding, programming or anything that deals with computer science. In addition, many of them do
not even know what computer science is. They enter high school with the expectation to learn math, writing and science (Schulzke). Which are actually
important to learn, but having knowledge in computer science is as important too. Especially in nowadays where technology surrounds us. As
