Public Space - Change 5
• High quality paving to enhance the appearance
of the footway with places to sit and rest while
visiting the area.
• New tree planting and additional grassed area
• Closure of a short length of the service road
fronting Farmfoods & McCarthy & Stone
apartments to create a safer environment for
pedestrians.
Morrisons Store access junction - Change 2
• A new raised mini roundabout junction to help improve traffic
flow & reduce vehicle speeds Junction will also provide access
to the service road.
• Build new access to the service road from the Chester Road
opposite Morrisons Store access.
Chester Road - Change 4 (between Hurst
Lane North and Hazelhurst Road junctions)
• Introduce central reservation/median between
the Hurst Lane North junction and
Morrisons Store.
• Introduce central refuge & pedestrian
crossing point in the vicinity of Morrisons
Petrol Station.
• To allow pedestrians crossing the road to
shelter on the central refuge area - will help
reduce vehicle speeds.
Service Road - Change 7
(along the north side of Chester Road)
• Create approximately 20 additional
parking spaces
• New dedicated loading area for delivery
vehicles.
• Maintain two way traffic flow but widen to
accommodate vehicles.
• Tree planting to enhance the area
• Shared use Cycleway along the footway
between the private area fronting the
shops/businesses and the service road
Hazelhurst Road junction - Change 3
• A new raised mini roundabout junction to
help improve traffic flow & reduce
vehicle speeds
Chester Road - Change 6
(between Hurst Lane North and Hazelhurst
Road junctions)
• Narrow Chester Road between Morrisons
store & Hazelhurst Road.
• Remove central right turn lanes
• New grass verges & tree planting
Chester Road / Hurst Lane North
Junction - Change 1
• Introduce additional push button pedestrian
crossing on the Hurst Lane North side of
main Chester Road/ Hurst Lane junction.
• Create two lanes for traffic approaching the
junction on both Hurst Lane and Hurst Lane
North to reduce congestion and delays
to traffic.
Shared use cycleway along north
side of Chester Road - Change 9
• Shared use cycleway through the area
• Shared use Cycleway along the footway
between the private area fronting the
shops/businesses and the service road
Traffic calming - Change 8
• Introduce traffic calming features - road
humps to help limit & control
vehicle speeds
