The UAE Operation contributes in excess of 50% to express and road traffic for DHL in the
Middle East, with revenues of 100M EUR and trading costs of 40M EUR across 24 locations
including 3 customs clearance facilities.
• Development of the strategic direction for National Operations, both short and long term
• Drive year on year improvements in costs and performance
• Direct and plan the National Operations of both inbound and outbound material for the UAE
• Accountable for all UAE transit times and gateway clearance performance
• Owner of all operational Key Performance Indicators, transit times and customs clearance
• Responsible for the security, facilities and staff across the UAE
• Managing relationships with customs, airport police and all local authorities
• Management of all DHL facilities in the UAE including building, relocation, development and
ongoing management
• Responsible for planning, directing and development of 300 employees with direct
management of 6 senior managers
• Ensure all quality management is in place for the business including ISO 9000, 1400 and
18000
Selected Achievements
• Designed and implemented a total operations / logistics warehouse that is now responsible
for 60% of Middle East inbound material
• Improved inbound and outbound transit times to greater than 90% success rate month on
month for the UAE
• Winner of the Middle East area operations performance league 2 years running
• Directed the implementation of the first Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solution with UAE
customs
AREA OPERATIONS MANAGER, U A E Oct 00 to June 03
• Manage the country infrastructure (facilities and equipment)
• Aggressively manage costs and productivity
• Manage service quality indicators to regional parameters
• Manage UAE Hub and road distribution network
• Manage and develop 120 ground staff
