What is Blood Pressure?
Blood pressure is used to measure the force with which our heart is
pumping blood around our body to provide the oxygen & energy, which
our body needs. Blood pressure is also known as Hypertension
A blood pressure reading always consists of two numbers:
1.Top number (Systolic)
2. Bottom number (Diastolic)

Types & Measurement Unit Of Blood
Pressure
TYPES OF BLOOD PRESSURE:
1. High Blood Pressure (Systolic Pressure)
2. Low blood pressure( Diastolic Pressure)
3. Normal blood pressure.
1. Systolic Pressure:-
It refers to the highest pressure your heart applies when it pumps blood
around your body.
2. Diastolic Pressure:-
It refers to as the lowest pressure your heart applies while pumping
blood around your body.
3. Normal Blood Pressure:-
For a normal blood pressure the top no. (Systolic number) should show a
reading lower than 120 and the bottom no. (Diastolic no.) Should show a
reading lower than 80 . Basically when both these numbers are within
these ranges then your blood pressure is considered to be a normal
blood pressure.
MEASUREMENT UNIT OF BLOOD PRESSURE:-
Blood pressure is measured in millimeters of mercury
(mmHg)

Understanding the Nature Of Blood
Pressure
Understanding the Nature Of Blood Pressure:-
1.The top numbers (systolic) ranges from 70-180
2.The bottom numbers (diastolic) ranges from 40-100
As per the chart what does the readings mean?
1.If the reading is 90/60 or Less - you may have Low Blood Pressure
2. If the reading is More than 90/60 and Less than 120/80- It is Normal
Blood Pressure. This is referred to as an Ideal and Healthy Reading.
3. If reading is More than 120/80 and Less than 140/90- Means your
blood pressure is Slightly High & you should try to bring it under control
4. If reading is 140/90 or More- Means you have High Blood
Pressure.Take the medicines prescribed by your doctor.
9
10. It Means:-
If reading is 140 or more:-
No matter is the bottom reading, you have high blood pressure.
If your bottom reading is 90 or above :-
No what is the top reading, you may have high blood pressure.
If your top number reading is 90 or less :-
No matter what is the bottom reading, you may have low blood pressure
If your bottom reading is 60 or less :-
No matter what is the top reading, you may have low blood pressure.

What is Low Blood Pressure/
Hypotension
- A low blood pressure refers to a reading of 90/60 mmHg or lower.
- For any reading to be counted as a low blood pressure only any one of
the numbers has to be lower than it should be.
Means:-
- If the Top Number (Systolic Number) is either 90 or less than 90, doesn't
matter what the bottom number is, It may be considered as a Low Blood
Pressure
"OR"
- Of the Bottom Number (Diastolic Number) are either 60 or less than 60,
no matter what the top number is, it may be considered to be as the Low
Blood Pressure.
