Dr. Saxena received his MS and Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati, USA in 1972 and 1974, respectively, in Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering and his B.Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1970, in Mechanical Engineering. He served as the Dean of Engineering, Distinguished Professor and the Irma F. and Raymond C. Giffels’ Endowed Chair in Engineering at the University of Arkansas between 2003-12. Dr. Saxena previously held the position of Regents’ Professor and Chair of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology (ranked among the top 5 U.S. universities in Engineering) in Atlanta where he still holds the position of Adjunct Regents’ Professor. Prior to joining Georgia Tech in 1985, he was a Fellow Scientist at the Westinghouse Research and Development Center in Pittsburgh, where he worked between 1976-80 and 1981-85. He served as a Research Metallurgist at the National Steel Corporation in Weirton, West Virginia between 1974-76. Between 1980-81, he served as a Reader in the School of Materials Science and Technology at the Banaras Hindu University and did a short stint as a Sr. Manager at the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. in Bangalore. He also held visiting assignments at GKSS Research Laboratories in Geesthacht, Germany and at the National University of Singapore in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He is internationally known for his contributions to the study of creep and creep-fatigue crack growth in high temperature materials used in steam and gas turbine applications. 78. pro vice-chancellor Dr. M. Khalid is Dean, School of Computing Science and Engineering, Galgotias University. Prior to joining the university, he has been a faculty member at various cadres in the Computer Science and Engineering Department, IIT Bombay from 1981 to 1998. He then took up assignments in a number of Universities abroad for about ten years. On his return back home, he joined VIT University, Vellore as a Professor and Dean, and completed his four year term (2007-11) as Dean/Director, School of Computing Science and Engineering (SCSE) in August 2011. He continued as a Senior Professor in the School until May 2012. He was Pro Vice-Chancellor, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar (June 2012- December 2012) too.
