Significant Achievements:
• At the internationally level as a Director on the Asian Pacific Regional Council for Variety the Children’s
Charity I have successfully opened communication channels between Variety Japan and head office in the USA
that has led to a resurgence of activities for children with special needs around Japan.
• Successful in having Japan’s bid to host the 2020 world Variety the Children’s Charity Conference in
Tokyo.
• Successful in forming strategic partnerships across industries and government agencies in building
alliances and for the procurement of equipment and programs for children with special needs, both nationally and
internationally.
• Nationally recognised for my work in negotiating and implementing ground breaking conditions of
employment in an Indigenous organisation (a first) for the inclusion of a Domestic Violence Leave within an
enterprise agreement by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU), 2015 Australian of the Year Rosie Batty
and the Australian Fair Work Commission.
• Successfully implemented An Assessment of Resource Requirements of the Northern Territory Police
($75 Million and 112 recommendations) – ‘O’Sullivan Report’
As the Director of the Building Our Police Force Program, I was accountable for overseeing a number of projects
that were responsible for; redefining processes for determining and reporting staff and capital forward estimates at
the local level and transmitting same through command structures; development of a set of workload and
performance indicators; examining and responding to the correlation between workload, performance and resource
needs; ensuring change management was incorporated into the ethos of any leadership, management or
supervisory programs and the impact of increasing the availability of frontline police and the associated service
delivery services to the community.
• Architect of a civilianisation program to release police to frontline roles within State Crime Operations
Command, Queensland Police Service. This included police intelligence and other specialist roles.
• Participated in a number of reform programs stemming from reviews conducted on the Queensland
Police Service from The 'Fitzgerald Report' 1989 (addressing corruption), the State of Queensland Public Sector
Management Commission (PSMC) review of 1993 into work practices, and a review by Sir Max Bingham
concerning the efficiencies of regionalisation.
• Human Resource Advisor to working party in the development of policy and guidelines for the
recruitment, training, placement and reintegration back into main stream policing of covert operatives - Queensland
Police Service.
• Human Resource Advisor to a working party in the development and negotiation of a drug and alcohol
random testing initiative for covert operatives - Queensland Police Service.
• Human Resource Advisor to working party in the development of screening methodologies for staff
being considered for placement in high risk areas such as child abuse, and the associated debriefing framework for
staff in such areas.
• Human Resource Advisor to a working party for the establishment of a School of Business Forensics at
the University of Queensland concerning the professional development, and future recruitment, of specialist
personnel within the law enforcement community.
• Human Resource Advisor to the Queensland Crime Commission during its establishment and provided
practical solutions to matters that included the structuring of the non-police (professional staff) and police personnel
(operational); determining remuneration and classification levels; recruitment strategies as well as the development
of an appropriate human resource policies and procedures framework on which its operations were based in a
state-wide capacity. This was in response to the political sensitivities of the times and against a background of
community expectations
• Liaison officer for the Queensland Police Service relating to the placement/secondment of police at the
national and international level.
• Representative for the Northern Territory Police Fire and Emergency Services at a number of Territory
and National forums including the Australia and New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA)
• Implementation of the Remote Area Rotation Initiative (RARI) aimed at rotating child protection
staff from other jurisdictions to the Northern Territory on short-term secondments - endorsed by the Community and
Disability Services Ministers’ Advisory Council.
• Successful implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding (Partnership Agreement) with Charles
Darwin University for up to 25 graduates into the field of community services within the Department of Children and
Families. This is aimed at ‘growing our own’ and building for the future service delivery considerations/demands of
the Department at a strategic human resource level.

classification standards for State employees. To contribute and provide advice on policy formulation towards

implementation of career planning and development programs for State police employees within the State of
Queensland as well as addressing associated performance management issues.

Variety the Children’s Charity December 2012 - present
I hold a number of Board posts on a voluntary at a local, national and international level. As a Board member I am
responsible to actively participate and contribute to Board reviews, strategic planning matters and national or
international considerations/events.
For example, I hold a Director’s role on the Variety Asian Pacific Region International Committee and have been
allocated Japan as part of my portfolio. The role is to support, mentor and guide Japan in their pursuit of assisting
children with special needs and I act as the international liaison officer between Japan and head office in Los
Angeles.
As way of background, Variety International the Children’s Charity undertook a paradigm shift in its business, which
modernised the structure and aligned its operations with its objective of serving children throughout the world.
Champions have been appointed via the transitional rules of the restructure to form the 5 Regional Committees and
to start forming an agenda for the work to be done.

In my role as Deputy Chair of Variety the children’s charity Northern Territory, the charity works directly with

Australia Day Council – September 2012 – September 2015 The Australia Day Council of the Northern Territory is a community based not-for-profit incorporated body and is closely aligned to the Northern Territory Government and National Australia Day Council as well as Australia Day Councils in other states and territories that operate as an independent body responsible for our own management, events and activities, finance and governance. Our mission is to Inspire Territorians to celebrate and recognise the diversity, achievements and lifestyle that make Australia great. Appointed Treasurer 2013 - 2015 Committee Membership: • Governance/Skills Register Sub Committee (NT) • Strategic/Business Plan Sub Committee (NT) Significant Achievements: • Successfully opened communication channels between Variety Japan and head office in the USA that has led to a resurgence of activities for children with special needs around Japan. • Participated in the successful running of a world conference in Jersey (Channel Islands) for Variety the Children’s Charity. • Successful in having Japan’s bid to host the 2020 world Variety Conference in Tokyo. • Successful in forming strategic partnerships across industries and government agencies in building alliances and for the procurement of equipment and programs for children with special needs. • Appointed Chair of the National Governance and Audit Committee for Variety the Children’s Charity • Appointed Deputy Chair of the Red Cross Board Member (NT) • Appointed National Member of the Council of the Australian Red Cross Society (NT Representative) • Active member of the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Committee (NT) for Red Cross • Actively contributed to the strategic planning process for Variety the Children’s Charity, Red Cross and the YMCA.
