Reflection On My Writing
My Personal Writing Reflection
I have witnessed myself intellectually grow since September of junior year, 2016. Coming into junior year, it was challenging for me to center my
thoughts and have a developed focus in my essays. Furthermore, it was challenging to get my voice to the reader and slightly hard to understand the
difference between critical analysis, synthesis, and summary. Through the progression of this year, I have slightly improved my critical analysis and
synthesis skills; I have learned to continually ask myself "why" and "how" whenever I made a claim and combining sources together to develop a
coherent well–developed essay. Starting out with the "The Great Influenza" in class essay, I was able to practice critical thinking...show more content...
In timed writing, I normally lack "syntax and grammatical control," which continually to lower my grades regardless of having analysis or not. In
grammar, some of my sentences get very wordy, and so I always need to go back, reread and proofread my sentences. Occasionally, I write my
thoughts as they come, which makes my ideas scattered all over the place; the lack of time does not give me a chance to plan ahead. Sometimes, I
need to carefully check my verb tenses as well. Also, I am generally a slow thinker and writer. Timed writing as a whole is one of my weaknesses
because there is not enough time to write everything down, check and proofread my essays for grammar, and correspondingly my writing is weak,
lack focus and a central theme, contain grammatical and syntax errors, and thus I am unable to get my message across to the

What Is Proofreading?
I have discover about "proofreading," on the other hand, is the process of correcting grammatical, spelling, and typographical errors in a document.
Proofreading must also go beyond simply using a "spell check" feature on our computers, as this technique is not as reliable as many of us would like to
believe. Anomalies, such as different language sets, faulty assumptions about grammar and sentence structure, embedded information, and
field–specific terminology, mean that we must review a document thoroughly, without relying on spell or grammar checks to do it for us. A final spell
and grammar check provides "quality assurance" for your paper, but should be undertaken only after your document has been edited. Proofreading
involves making corrections,

Proofreading Course Reflection
This course as you stated has been very complicated to me as well at times. However, the course has offered many valuable tools for us to utilize in
preparing for our research–based paper. Proofreading your paper is important to ensure all errors are corrected before submitting your paper in for
grading. I would like to congratulate you on your renewed inspiration of journal writing again.

The Importance Of Tips To Proofread My Writing
The tips I found most helpful for my writing was to proofread my work, to not allow others to discourage my writing, and to have motivation to think
outside the box. To proofread my work means to always re–read what was writing before I turn it in for grading. Proof reading is important because
any first time mistakes made can easily be recognized and fixed. When I present my work I may not always have great input of my work, there will
always be critiques and negative opinions of how I should write my work. However, I am to remain positive, take the constructive criticism and to not
allow someone else's opinions discourage me from writing how I feel. I also have to have the motivation to think outside the box and that simply means

Editing And Proofreading
Editing And Proofreading Your Essays As Quickly As Possible
You have just finished your essay and it has taken you ages, and now all you have to do is run your spelling and grammar checker and all is fine, right?
Wrong! Most liberal arts courses and even some of the sciences are going to grade your paper on things such as clarity, communication, comprehension,
and some will specifically require a higher–level use of English. If you do not professionally proofread your paper, you will fail to achieve even a
mediocre grade.
Proofreading Is Time Consuming
Many marking guides are based on a leveling system where in order to get a higher grade/mark, you must first pass certain milestones. If your piece is
not correctly proofread, you cannot

Discovering The Best Ways I Write Essay
Autoethonography This comp class has challenged me to change the way I write. I have been forced to look at my sources in a whole new way to
meet the requirements for the assignment. Discovering the best ways to brainstorm and organizing my essays will help me skip those painful first
moments when starting a project. There were many struggles that I went through this semester. From learning to synthesize, to writing to an audience,
to finding my voice, this class has helped me grow in many ways.
My writing journey took a new path the minute I started working on journal one. I didn't know it back then, but this journal set me up for all that was
to come. Looking back over this first entry I realize that my sentences were very choppy and that my thoughts jumped from one to the next without a
successful transition. For example, "The older women, who have been told what to do from an early age, are now gaining their freedom by educating
themselves. The portraits of the women surrounded by their quotes make a strong statement about their will and desire to better themselves." This is a
direct quote out of my journal entry that shows the lack of transition and how it's confusing to the audience because there is no background or
description. Reading again, I can tell that I was just trying to answer the questions that the journal was asking and that I wasn't connecting the questions
or the topic to anything else.
Synthesizing was a skill that was not taught to me in high school.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Proofreading
Proofreading:
Proofreading is the act of examining any type of document carefully in order to detect and rectify the mistakes in punctuation, spelling or grammar. The
task may include cheeking of different component of a layout for their correct placement, dimensions, type etc.
Proofreaders are required to be habitually accurate by default because they employ the final stage of typographic creation before publication. The act of
proofreading includes several methods such as alternative methods, traditional methods, style guides and checklist etc.
Failing to proofread the documents properly before it leaves your desk can be pretty embarrassing. It also can lead to several miscommunications. It is
the final step in your writing and editing...show more content...
A way a content looks impacts the way others judge it. Nobody wants careless mistakes distracting their readers after working hard to develop and
present their ideas. That isbwhy you need to pay attention to the details which help to build up a good reputation.
Most individuals spend only a few minitus while proofreading their documents. It is not the right process because after working hard on a paper, you
are likely to skip a lot of errors. You should have a proper plan which helps you to find out the errors in a systemetic way.
Obviously, this takes extra time but it is required to check all the errors properly. You have to read every word slowly and carefully. Proofreading is the
final scope to revise a document before it is printed or published.
Most of the time, students write a good thesis paper and then forget the most important task of cheking the errors properly. After writing a research
paper, essay or thesis paper it may not be possible for you to spend extra time to proofread the documents. Then you have to assign the task to
someone experienced enough to proofread your papers. There are several online academic service site available who proofread documents. If you are
searching for teh best service provider then AnyAcademicHelp.com could be the perfect one for

My Essay: What I Learned About Writing
What I have learned about writing is that it is a lot harder than it looks. You might think that you can come up with something right off the spot and
write it down and have it be a very good essay, but the truth is that you have to actually have to spend some time with the writing and sometimes it
might even take hours for you to write a good essay but the hours are worth it, take it from the guy who learned it the hard way. In my writing I changed
some of the words because some of the words in the essay were a little under classed, so I changed those under classed word to better words. I did
this so that my essay would sound a little more interesting and a little more mature. So basically I took the words in essay that seemed

My Peer Review Feedback
I was quite surprised my peer review feedback through Smarthinking, did not mention any major grammar issues or any fragments. However, when
separating main ideas, I seem to continue misplacing commas, and continue to misplace modifiers, which confuse my audience. Furthermore, I believe
I have strengthened my selection of vocabulary words, whilst I struggle to recognize the proper spelling or use them incorrectly to correlate with the
rest of the sentence, and thus confuse my audience. Reviewing my weaknesses from the peer review feedback, I realize most of the grammar
mistakes, word choice mistakes, and structure mistakes, could have been corrected if I proofread my essay carefully. Therefore, I will proofread my
essay in scrutiny, and read

Proofreading
Proofreading any document prior to finalizing is essential to the writing process, and involves other than just simply checking for spelling and
grammar errors. Research papers, essays, e–mail, and memorandums are just a few examples of documents that would require careful proofreading so
that the message is positively communicated. Proofreading can comprehended into three phases: revising for content, editing, and verifying sources
and mechanics.
Consider revising the content by reading your document slowly and carefully. Ensure that the title and the papers introduction signal the intent of the
topic. Examine the documents and its overall organization. Determine if the assigned writing has addressed all the outlined requirements, is each
paragraph unified and coherent, is there enough details to support the opening introduction or the topic sentence, and are there any points in the
document where the...show more content...
Additionally, the writer can check for spelling and grammar errors that may have been overseen in the second phase, including punctuations. Writers can
determine whether particular words are properly capitalized and abbreviated. Its imperative writers audit for appropriate formatting, such as, MLA,
APA, ASA, or any other documentation method required. Proper formatting also includes placement of your name and course, page numbering,
appropriate spacing, and cited work. Proofreading is the most essential aspect of writing, and can determine if the paper or document is well written,
easy to read, and distinctly communicates the message. It's important when a writer is proofreading their own material. The proofreading process is
adequate as writers practice and develops new strategies to the process. Writers can better identify areas where they can be further attentive, and
acquiring a sound method for finding errors will assist a writer on the development ideas while drafting a

The Importance Of Writing: I Proofread My Writing
I agree with you, Nicole, It is crucial that we proofread our writing. For example, there are instances even myself cannot make sense of what wrote
the night before, so I am learning to read a paper multiple times and have someone else read it back to me before posting it for the instructor. I find
myself writing a better paper if I write it in the morning. Great post,

Essay on Writing Experience
My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences,
forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the
future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no
errors with drafting and final products. I predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in
kindergarten. My teacher taught me how to write my name over and over until I could write it with no errors. All through elementary my teachers
taught me...show more content...
I need to learn to quit thinking as much on what I want to write about and how to write about a topic and just starting jotting stuff down in outline form
as it comes to mind. Run–ons and fragments I need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My
goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my
whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs,
essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will
have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and
sex education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will have to make sure I do an excellent job on and
collect accurate information and statistics so that I can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so
that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am talking about by my writing skills when doing shift
changes. I will have to be very precise so that other nurses will not

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Writing
This semester has definitely been one of the hardest ones in my life as a student because it is my first semester in college. Before taking this
English course, my writing styles and habits were very different. I was not a good student because I would wait until the night before a paper was
due to start it. This did not allow me enough time to properly proofread everything, which resulted in getting points deducted for simple grammatical
errors that could have been avoided if I would have had the time to proofread. My writing styles have many strengths and weaknesses and I have been
able to improve my writing because of them. I have learned from my strengths and weaknesses and how to become a better writer. In my writing,
some strengths I had to develop throughout this course are how to write a good introduction to my essays. Examples of this are my essays "The Four
Liars" and "A trip for the UFO Museum" which were the best introductions I wrote. The introductions are what I focus on the most because it outlines
what will be discussed in the essay and introduces the position on the topic. Basically, the most important part of an essay. Therefore, I always try
to make a good introduction. However, I do not always grab the reader`s attention because I am focusing more on giving good information rather
than making it interesting for the reader. I just jump right into my subject without presenting the topic or the purpose of the essay. I am aware that
such tasks have made the most significant contribution to my progress and academic development because they encouraged my creativity. At the
same time, some major problems on my essays are my body paragraphs an example of this is my essay "A Trip for the UFO Museum". It was a
very good essay, but it did not have a thesis statement in the main body paragraph. I was just explaining things which is my biggest weakens when I
write an essay because I do not know what to write. I do not end it with concluding thoughts or analysis, instead, I use examples and I forget to put a
transition word. From these errors, I learn to always use transitions and put a comma after each one of them. However, the conclusions I write are
good because is where I write what I learn from

Writing An Exemplary Essay
1. Which parts of your essay do you feel most closely meet the expectations for exemplary writing as described in the essay rubric and why?
I feel that the two strongest parts of my essay are my thesis and certain parts of my closing paragraphs. My focus, or thesis, most closely meet the
expectations because it offers significant insight that is precise and creatively stated. It also addresses the content requirements and is fully supported
throughout the essay. I like the wording I used for the thesis, and to me it's inspirational. Secondly, I think that certain parts of my closing are strong,
particularly the lessons in perseverance that I learned from Seth. My grammar and mechanics have fulfilled the definition of exemplary in the essay
rubric as well.
2. Which parts of your essay could use improvement, and why?
While there are many parts of my essay that could use improvement, I am only going to focus on a couple. In paragraph four it feels as though I am
rambling a bit about the details of the Domino Project story. I do think that how the project played out is important, I just...show more content...
Specifically, when moving from paragraph five to paragraph six, besides using the word "another" twice in a row, it seems forced, like I am
jumping into the next idea. How can I clearly transition without sounding automated? Also, the last sentence in paragraph five sounds like I just
threw it in there. Should I take it out completely or rewrite it? I don't like how the last two sentences of my essay flow, although I really like the
wording I used. How can I mix or add to these ideas to create more flow for the ending? Another thing I can improve upon is my style or voice.
Sometimes I can sound a little sterile. How can I show more easygoing flow while retaining the professional feel of the essay? The audience I chose is
future employers so I want to sound intelligent but not

Final Reflection : My Final Reflection
Final Reflection Essay
The introduction of a paper is just like someone's appearance, it will leave the first impression and will be the first thing judged. While reading the
first paragraph, the reader decides if the essay will be a complete load of garbage, or something worth their time. Recently, I like to believe that more
and more of my papers have been falling into the latter. I have learned that a superb beginning is essential to a satisfying end product. Among this, I
have learned much more from English Composition. I believe that I am a much stronger writer now than I was when I started this class, some of this
progress is due to my ever–changing writing process. At the start of this class, I would start my body paragraphs...show more content...
Since the beginning of English Composition my time usage has drastically changed. I wrote my first week essay all in one sitting. When I did this, it
limited my ideas. It was hard to come up with a fresh idea when I just wanted to be done. For a few of my essays, I would write them the night
before; these essays were definitely the worst. I was tired, stressed and hurrying to finish. When I work on an essay off and on, I allow myself to
come up with new ideas and I am able to work without as much pressure. Without the pressure, I actually find writing enjoyable. Throughout this
semester, writing has become less of a chore and more of a challenge and art. When I proofread the day after I finish my essay I am able to find
more mistakes. Alongside proofreading, when I write my essay ahead of time it allows time for heavy editing and multiple drafts. When I am not
trying to do my essay in a short time span ideas flow freely. When writing it is beneficial to let my mind wander because it allows me to come up
with new ideas. Now that I allow myself an adequate amount of time, I have found the many benefits of using an outline. I usually include my main
points and possible quotes I could use to support main ideas. An outline makes the essay come easier, so that I can concentrate on sentence structure
and grammar. Aside from many other things, the way I proofread my essays has changed immensely. As I said before, I no

Reflection On My Writing
After reading over my summer assignment essay and analyzing the comments and feedback of my writing I feel that I have a lot of work to do to
improve my writing as a whole. I feel I had the ideas down on what I wanted to say on my summer essay. It was just difficult expressing them in a way
that was compelling enough to the reader. The topics for the essay were not challenging to me because I felt that I wrote a lot about the one I chose on
alienation. Throughout my reflection I will discussed the weaknesses and strengths in my writing as well as talk about ways I feel I could improve my
writing. While reading over my essay I found many mistakes that I feel demonstrate my weaknesses in my writing. Developing a well written

How To Write A Proof-Reading Paper
Using an electronic–review service for proof–reading papers is new to me, but I find them very helpful. The review service has helped me see simple
mistakes that I made when writing an essay. With help from the review service I have improved, and continue to improve, my writing skills.
In the past when I wrote a paper I would have someone proof–read and give me suggestions, which is not ideal. Relying on someone who is not
qualified to proof–read papers will not help anyone that wants to improve their writing abilities. I submitted a paper to Smarthinking.com for review,
and made improvements to my paper once I received the response. I submitted my corrected paper to Paperrater.com, and got a surprise! I thought I
was improving my writing abilities,

My Essay: The Writing Process
The Writing Process My writing process is very simple yet slightly confusing for those who need to be organized when writing. The process begins in
the classroom when the teacher assigns a essay and gives me a prompt. Then it begins to break down into the basic steps that the "typical person" takes
when writing. First, I examine the prompt and dissect it like a frog, taking out all the important and needed information. I check to see the topic of the
essay, all the requirements such as the length of the essay and the type of paper it needs to be. Once that is done I find the intended audience. Each of
these steps are essential to the type of evidence and quotes that will be used . It also helps me begin to start thinking about how I want to begin my
essay and structure it....show more content...
Procrastination is the action of delaying or postponing something. This action has been my best friend and my worse enemy on several occasions
when writing papers. It has taught me that I can write a paper that should take 2 weeks in 2 hours and that I can take 2 weeks to write a paper that
should be done in 2 hours. Once the procrastination process is over I either look up articles relevant to the topic of the paper or I gather my
articles from class. I go through the articles and I underline/highlight any important information. I begin somewhat of a brainstorm process. This
process includes me taking out a sheet of paper separating it into sections. The sections are either beginning, middle, and end or paragraph
one, paragraph two ,paragraph three etc. I back track and I begin to eliminate the evidence. I keep three to four pieces of the evidence that will be
able to be expanded on the most. Based on that I decide what each paragraph or section will be about. On the piece of paper I write the topic under
each section based on where it needs to

Reflection On My Writing

  • 1. Reflection On My Writing My Personal Writing Reflection I have witnessed myself intellectually grow since September of junior year, 2016. Coming into junior year, it was challenging for me to center my thoughts and have a developed focus in my essays. Furthermore, it was challenging to get my voice to the reader and slightly hard to understand the difference between critical analysis, synthesis, and summary. Through the progression of this year, I have slightly improved my critical analysis and synthesis skills; I have learned to continually ask myself "why" and "how" whenever I made a claim and combining sources together to develop a coherent well–developed essay. Starting out with the "The Great Influenza" in class essay, I was able to practice critical thinking...show more content... In timed writing, I normally lack "syntax and grammatical control," which continually to lower my grades regardless of having analysis or not. In grammar, some of my sentences get very wordy, and so I always need to go back, reread and proofread my sentences. Occasionally, I write my thoughts as they come, which makes my ideas scattered all over the place; the lack of time does not give me a chance to plan ahead. Sometimes, I need to carefully check my verb tenses as well. Also, I am generally a slow thinker and writer. Timed writing as a whole is one of my weaknesses because there is not enough time to write everything down, check and proofread my essays for grammar, and correspondingly my writing is weak, lack focus and a central theme, contain grammatical and syntax errors, and thus I am unable to get my message across to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. What Is Proofreading? I have discover about "proofreading," on the other hand, is the process of correcting grammatical, spelling, and typographical errors in a document. Proofreading must also go beyond simply using a "spell check" feature on our computers, as this technique is not as reliable as many of us would like to believe. Anomalies, such as different language sets, faulty assumptions about grammar and sentence structure, embedded information, and field–specific terminology, mean that we must review a document thoroughly, without relying on spell or grammar checks to do it for us. A final spell and grammar check provides "quality assurance" for your paper, but should be undertaken only after your document has been edited. Proofreading involves making corrections, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Proofreading Course Reflection This course as you stated has been very complicated to me as well at times. However, the course has offered many valuable tools for us to utilize in preparing for our research–based paper. Proofreading your paper is important to ensure all errors are corrected before submitting your paper in for grading. I would like to congratulate you on your renewed inspiration of journal writing again. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. The Importance Of Tips To Proofread My Writing The tips I found most helpful for my writing was to proofread my work, to not allow others to discourage my writing, and to have motivation to think outside the box. To proofread my work means to always re–read what was writing before I turn it in for grading. Proof reading is important because any first time mistakes made can easily be recognized and fixed. When I present my work I may not always have great input of my work, there will always be critiques and negative opinions of how I should write my work. However, I am to remain positive, take the constructive criticism and to not allow someone else's opinions discourage me from writing how I feel. I also have to have the motivation to think outside the box and that simply means to demonstrate Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Editing And Proofreading Editing And Proofreading Your Essays As Quickly As Possible You have just finished your essay and it has taken you ages, and now all you have to do is run your spelling and grammar checker and all is fine, right? Wrong! Most liberal arts courses and even some of the sciences are going to grade your paper on things such as clarity, communication, comprehension, and some will specifically require a higher–level use of English. If you do not professionally proofread your paper, you will fail to achieve even a mediocre grade. Proofreading Is Time Consuming Many marking guides are based on a leveling system where in order to get a higher grade/mark, you must first pass certain milestones. If your piece is not correctly proofread, you cannot Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Discovering The Best Ways I Write Essay Autoethonography This comp class has challenged me to change the way I write. I have been forced to look at my sources in a whole new way to meet the requirements for the assignment. Discovering the best ways to brainstorm and organizing my essays will help me skip those painful first moments when starting a project. There were many struggles that I went through this semester. From learning to synthesize, to writing to an audience, to finding my voice, this class has helped me grow in many ways. My writing journey took a new path the minute I started working on journal one. I didn't know it back then, but this journal set me up for all that was to come. Looking back over this first entry I realize that my sentences were very choppy and that my thoughts jumped from one to the next without a successful transition. For example, "The older women, who have been told what to do from an early age, are now gaining their freedom by educating themselves. The portraits of the women surrounded by their quotes make a strong statement about their will and desire to better themselves." This is a direct quote out of my journal entry that shows the lack of transition and how it's confusing to the audience because there is no background or description. Reading again, I can tell that I was just trying to answer the questions that the journal was asking and that I wasn't connecting the questions or the topic to anything else. Synthesizing was a skill that was not taught to me in high school. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Proofreading Proofreading: Proofreading is the act of examining any type of document carefully in order to detect and rectify the mistakes in punctuation, spelling or grammar. The task may include cheeking of different component of a layout for their correct placement, dimensions, type etc. Proofreaders are required to be habitually accurate by default because they employ the final stage of typographic creation before publication. The act of proofreading includes several methods such as alternative methods, traditional methods, style guides and checklist etc. Failing to proofread the documents properly before it leaves your desk can be pretty embarrassing. It also can lead to several miscommunications. It is the final step in your writing and editing...show more content... A way a content looks impacts the way others judge it. Nobody wants careless mistakes distracting their readers after working hard to develop and present their ideas. That isbwhy you need to pay attention to the details which help to build up a good reputation. Most individuals spend only a few minitus while proofreading their documents. It is not the right process because after working hard on a paper, you are likely to skip a lot of errors. You should have a proper plan which helps you to find out the errors in a systemetic way. Obviously, this takes extra time but it is required to check all the errors properly. You have to read every word slowly and carefully. Proofreading is the final scope to revise a document before it is printed or published. Most of the time, students write a good thesis paper and then forget the most important task of cheking the errors properly. After writing a research paper, essay or thesis paper it may not be possible for you to spend extra time to proofread the documents. Then you have to assign the task to someone experienced enough to proofread your papers. There are several online academic service site available who proofread documents. If you are searching for teh best service provider then AnyAcademicHelp.com could be the perfect one for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My Essay: What I Learned About Writing What I have learned about writing is that it is a lot harder than it looks. You might think that you can come up with something right off the spot and write it down and have it be a very good essay, but the truth is that you have to actually have to spend some time with the writing and sometimes it might even take hours for you to write a good essay but the hours are worth it, take it from the guy who learned it the hard way. In my writing I changed some of the words because some of the words in the essay were a little under classed, so I changed those under classed word to better words. I did this so that my essay would sound a little more interesting and a little more mature. So basically I took the words in essay that seemed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. My Peer Review Feedback I was quite surprised my peer review feedback through Smarthinking, did not mention any major grammar issues or any fragments. However, when separating main ideas, I seem to continue misplacing commas, and continue to misplace modifiers, which confuse my audience. Furthermore, I believe I have strengthened my selection of vocabulary words, whilst I struggle to recognize the proper spelling or use them incorrectly to correlate with the rest of the sentence, and thus confuse my audience. Reviewing my weaknesses from the peer review feedback, I realize most of the grammar mistakes, word choice mistakes, and structure mistakes, could have been corrected if I proofread my essay carefully. Therefore, I will proofread my essay in scrutiny, and read Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Proofreading Proofreading any document prior to finalizing is essential to the writing process, and involves other than just simply checking for spelling and grammar errors. Research papers, essays, e–mail, and memorandums are just a few examples of documents that would require careful proofreading so that the message is positively communicated. Proofreading can comprehended into three phases: revising for content, editing, and verifying sources and mechanics. Consider revising the content by reading your document slowly and carefully. Ensure that the title and the papers introduction signal the intent of the topic. Examine the documents and its overall organization. Determine if the assigned writing has addressed all the outlined requirements, is each paragraph unified and coherent, is there enough details to support the opening introduction or the topic sentence, and are there any points in the document where the...show more content... Writers can determine whether particular words are properly capitalized and abbreviated. Proper formatting also includes placement of your name and course, page numbering, appropriate spacing, and cited work. Proofreading is the most essential aspect of writing, and can determine if the paper or document is well written, easy to read, and distinctly communicates the message. It's important when a writer is proofreading their own material. The proofreading process is adequate as writers practice and develops new strategies to the process. Writers can better identify areas where they can be further attentive, and acquiring a sound method for finding errors will assist a writer on the development ideas while drafting a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. The Importance Of Writing: I Proofread My Writing I agree with you, Nicole, It is crucial that we proofread our writing. For example, there are instances even myself cannot make sense of what wrote the night before, so I am learning to read a paper multiple times and have someone else read it back to me before posting it for the instructor. I find myself writing a better paper if I write it in the morning. Great post, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Essay on Writing Experience My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in kindergarten. My teacher taught me how to write my name over and over until I could write it with no errors. All through elementary my teachers taught me...show more content... I need to learn to quit thinking as much on what I want to write about and how to write about a topic and just starting jotting stuff down in outline form as it comes to mind. Run–ons and fragments I need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will have to make sure I do an excellent job on and collect accurate information and statistics so that I can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am talking about by my writing skills when doing shift changes. I will have to be very precise so that other nurses will not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Writing This semester has definitely been one of the hardest ones in my life as a student because it is my first semester in college. Before taking this English course, my writing styles and habits were very different. I was not a good student because I would wait until the night before a paper was due to start it. This did not allow me enough time to properly proofread everything, which resulted in getting points deducted for simple grammatical errors that could have been avoided if I would have had the time to proofread. My writing styles have many strengths and weaknesses and I have been able to improve my writing because of them. I have learned from my strengths and weaknesses and how to become a better writer. In my writing, some strengths I had to develop throughout this course are how to write a good introduction to my essays. Examples of this are my essays "The Four Liars" and "A trip for the UFO Museum" which were the best introductions I wrote. The introductions are what I focus on the most because it outlines what will be discussed in the essay and introduces the position on the topic. Basically, the most important part of an essay. Therefore, I always try to make a good introduction. However, I do not always grab the reader`s attention because I am focusing more on giving good information rather than making it interesting for the reader. I just jump right into my subject without presenting the topic or the purpose of the essay. I am aware that such tasks have made the most significant contribution to my progress and academic development because they encouraged my creativity. At the same time, some major problems on my essays are my body paragraphs an example of this is my essay "A Trip for the UFO Museum". It was a very good essay, but it did not have a thesis statement in the main body paragraph. I was just explaining things which is my biggest weakens when I write an essay because I do not know what to write. I do not end it with concluding thoughts or analysis, instead, I use examples and I forget to put a transition word. From these errors, I learn to always use transitions and put a comma after each one of them. However, the conclusions I write are good because is where I write what I learn from Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Writing An Exemplary Essay 1. Which parts of your essay do you feel most closely meet the expectations for exemplary writing as described in the essay rubric and why? I feel that the two strongest parts of my essay are my thesis and certain parts of my closing paragraphs. My focus, or thesis, most closely meet the expectations because it offers significant insight that is precise and creatively stated. It also addresses the content requirements and is fully supported throughout the essay. I like the wording I used for the thesis, and to me it's inspirational. Secondly, I think that certain parts of my closing are strong, particularly the lessons in perseverance that I learned from Seth. My grammar and mechanics have fulfilled the definition of exemplary in the essay rubric as well. 2. Which parts of your essay could use improvement, and why? While there are many parts of my essay that could use improvement, I am only going to focus on a couple. In paragraph four it feels as though I am rambling a bit about the details of the Domino Project story. I do think that how the project played out is important, I just...show more content... Specifically, when moving from paragraph five to paragraph six, besides using the word "another" twice in a row, it seems forced, like I am jumping into the next idea. How can I clearly transition without sounding automated? Also, the last sentence in paragraph five sounds like I just threw it in there. Should I take it out completely or rewrite it? I don't like how the last two sentences of my essay flow, although I really like the wording I used. How can I mix or add to these ideas to create more flow for the ending? Another thing I can improve upon is my style or voice. Sometimes I can sound a little sterile. How can I show more easygoing flow while retaining the professional feel of the essay? • 15. Final Reflection : My Final Reflection Final Reflection Essay The introduction of a paper is just like someone's appearance, it will leave the first impression and will be the first thing judged. While reading the first paragraph, the reader decides if the essay will be a complete load of garbage, or something worth their time. Recently, I like to believe that more and more of my papers have been falling into the latter. I have learned that a superb beginning is essential to a satisfying end product. Among this, I have learned much more from English Composition. I believe that I am a much stronger writer now than I was when I started this class, some of this progress is due to my ever–changing writing process. At the start of this class, I would start my body paragraphs...show more content... Since the beginning of English Composition my time usage has drastically changed. I wrote my first week essay all in one sitting. When I did this, it limited my ideas. It was hard to come up with a fresh idea when I just wanted to be done. For a few of my essays, I would write them the night before; these essays were definitely the worst. I was tired, stressed and hurrying to finish. When I work on an essay off and on, I allow myself to come up with new ideas and I am able to work without as much pressure. Without the pressure, I actually find writing enjoyable. Throughout this semester, writing has become less of a chore and more of a challenge and art. When I proofread the day after I finish my essay I am able to find more mistakes. Alongside proofreading, when I write my essay ahead of time it allows time for heavy editing and multiple drafts. When I am not trying to do my essay in a short time span ideas flow freely. When writing it is beneficial to let my mind wander because it allows me to come up with new ideas. Now that I allow myself an adequate amount of time, I have found the many benefits of using an outline. I usually include my main points and possible quotes I could use to support main ideas. An outline makes the essay come easier, so that I can concentrate on sentence structure and grammar. Aside from many other things, the way I proofread my essays has changed immensely. • 17. Reflection On My Writing After reading over my summer assignment essay and analyzing the comments and feedback of my writing I feel that I have a lot of work to do to improve my writing as a whole. I feel I had the ideas down on what I wanted to say on my summer essay. It was just difficult expressing them in a way that was compelling enough to the reader. The topics for the essay were not challenging to me because I felt that I wrote a lot about the one I chose on alienation. Throughout my reflection I will discussed the weaknesses and strengths in my writing as well as talk about ways I feel I could improve my writing. • 18. How To Write A Proof-Reading Paper Using an electronic–review service for proof–reading papers is new to me, but I find them very helpful. The review service has helped me see simple mistakes that I made when writing an essay. With help from the review service I have improved, and continue to improve, my writing skills. In the past when I wrote a paper I would have someone proof–read and give me suggestions, which is not ideal. Relying on someone who is not qualified to proof–read papers will not help anyone that wants to improve their writing abilities. I submitted a paper to Smarthinking.com for review, and made improvements to my paper once I received the response. I submitted my corrected paper to Paperrater.com, and got a surprise! • 19. My Essay: The Writing Process The Writing Process My writing process is very simple yet slightly confusing for those who need to be organized when writing. The process begins in the classroom when the teacher assigns a essay and gives me a prompt. Then it begins to break down into the basic steps that the "typical person" takes when writing. First, I examine the prompt and dissect it like a frog, taking out all the important and needed information. I check to see the topic of the essay, all the requirements such as the length of the essay and the type of paper it needs to be. Once that is done I find the intended audience. Each of these steps are essential to the type of evidence and quotes that will be used . It also helps me begin to start thinking about how I want to begin my essay and structure it....show more content... Procrastination is the action of delaying or postponing something. This action has been my best friend and my worse enemy on several occasions when writing papers. It has taught me that I can write a paper that should take 2 weeks in 2 hours and that I can take 2 weeks to write a paper that should be done in 2 hours. Once the procrastination process is over I either look up articles relevant to the topic of the paper or I gather my articles from class. I go through the articles and I underline/highlight any important information. I begin somewhat of a brainstorm process. This process includes me taking out a sheet of paper separating it into sections. The sections are either beginning, middle, and end or paragraph one, paragraph two ,paragraph three etc. I back track and I begin to eliminate the evidence. I keep three to four pieces of the evidence that will be able to be expanded on the most. Based on that I decide what each paragraph or section will be about. On the piece of paper I write the topic under each section based on where it needs to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
