1. CHARACTER
APPEARANCES
To illustrate how I want each of my characters
to look I have created an avatar for each of
them using the website ‘Avatar Maker’. I have
done this to hep me know who to ask to be
part of my cast so that the actors will look like
but also so that I can explain why I want them
to look this certain way.
2. JENNY WALTON
Description: Attractive, young, fair skin, short, wavy, dark
hair, natural beauty.
Representation: Sophisticated and mature due to her
simplistic and minimalistic beauty showing that she does not
try too much and that she has not done anything extreme
to edit her looks.
Jenny is an attractive girl who is still quite young. She has a
sophisticated appearance (short, wavy hairstyle)showing
that she is mature for her age. This includes her natural and
neat hairstyle and minimal make up therefore emphasising
her natural beauty. Her short hair will mean that her hair will
not cover her face too much and there will be no major
shadows over her face. I think dark hair will make her facial
expressions stand out more in a dark background especially
if she has fair skin. This is important because she has quite a
few scenes that use low key lighting so her facial expression
will not be lost.
3. MARK LLOYD
Description: Rough, dark, short hair, quite slim, tall
Representation: Contrasts Jenny slightly in the way that he does not
show that he looks after himself. His dark hair will make him look
more mysterious and slightly more aggressive as he has a darker
nature to him. I want him to look older but not necessarily mature.
Mark is an alcoholic and consequently aggressive man that has
pushed everyone around him away. He is quite young to show that
him and Jenny married young but he looks older due to his health
habits. He does not take much pride in his appearance and does
not show any sort of attempt to improve his looks by doing his hair
or anything like that. He has fair skin but dark hair which makes his
facial expressions stand out but in a darker way to Jenny in that this
will make him look more aggressive and more defined in a darker
light. However, the audience need to believe that someone like
Jenny would be attracted to a man like Mark so he needs to have
a general and subtle attractiveness about him so these flaws
cannot be too extreme.
4. CHRIS TAYLOR
• Description: Blonde, young, smart, blue eyes, natural, healthy, slim
build
• Representation: Chris is a young man that has had a good upbringing
and is well educated. This shows in his well kept and clean
appearance thereby contrasting that of Mark. He has blonde hair
and is quite fair to show that he is not of a dark nature. His hair is neat
and swept across to show his maturity as it is not spiked up or
anything like younger men tend to have. He needs to look healthy
and slim to show that he takes care of his body and leads a healthy
active lifestyle.
• Chris’ appearance should contrast that of Mark’s to show the
difference in their attitudes and the way that they treat Jenny. This is
because I want to highlight the different lifestyles that Jenny chooses
between and explains why she left Mark. Therefore Chris’ clean and
well kept appearance will present him as a man that wants to have a
good life with Jenny and will treat her well as he has been brought up
with the right values. The only time that Chris looks slightly more rough
and messy is when we see him throughout looking suspicious but this is
because I want it to seem like he is stressed and tired because he has
been spending all of his time trying to find Jenny but the audience to
not know this until right at the end.
5. ALICE
• Description: Long, dark, curly hair, natural, dark
green eyes
• Representation: Alice is portrayed as being very
mysterious so I do not want her appearance to tell
the audience too much. However, I do want her to
look very natural and almost as though she doesn’t
try very hard with her appearance because she
doesn’t really care. Her dark features will make her
look mysterious because we mainly see Alice in a
dark light so her face will look quite shadowy and
not really stand out much.
• It is important that Alice has long hair because I
want her to flick her hair round in front of the
camera and I am going to put this in a slight slow
motion effect to make her look quite intriguing but
in a way almost seductive.
