Definition of Digital Marketing:-
Digital marketing is the component of marketing
that utilizes the internet and online-based digital
technologies such as desktop computers, mobile
phones, and other digital media and platforms to
promote products and services.
History of Digital Marketing:-
Although Digital Marketing’s popularity has
increased tremendously in the last two decades, it’s
journey started in the nineties.
 Digital marketing began in the 1990’s with
hundreds of websites listed on Archie’s search
engines. Digital marketing began in the 1990’s with

engines. AT&T released the first clickable web ad
banner in 1994, when the number of internet users
suddenly increased to over 30 million.
 IN the year 1994, the first e-commerce transaction
took place on the net market and yahoo began
program in the same year.
 Timeline of Digital marketing:
 1990:- Launched 1st search engine Archie.
 1994:- AT&T released web and ad banner 1st clickable .In the
same year, 1st E-commerce transection took place in net market
and yahoo started their programe.
 1996:- Relesed few search engine Bot such as HotBot,LookSmart,
Alexa.
 1997:- 1st social media side SixDegreee.com launched when
Microsoft’s MSN and Google did not start their project.
 1998:- Yahoo added web search option and launched Google
search engine and Microsoft’s MSN.
 2000:- The web revulation stared and internet usear doubled.
 2001:- Universal Music started 1st Mobile Marketing camping.
 2002:- Launched Linkdin .
 2003:- WordPress and My space began their journey.
 2004:- Gmail launched Google and the same time Facebook stared
journey at primary.
