3. Point repairs are considered:
when are found in a

When damage is restricted to short or isolated
length of pipe, particularly in non-man-entry pipe
(Pitman, 2001)

4.  Defects occupy less than 25% of the length of
pipe
Fewer than four defects each of less than 1 meter
in length between manhole

5. 1. To maintain the loose and separated pieces of
unreinforced existing pipe in alignment to ensure load-
bearing equivalent of the masonry arch
2. To provide added localized structural capacity or support
to assist damaged pipes to sustain structural loads.
3. To provide a seal against infiltration and exfiltration

8.  Resin injection techniques can be used for both local repairs and
repairs to the whole pipe length.
 Can increase performance appreciably by establishing and
sealing the surrounding ground
 Principal function is to seal the pipeline against
infiltration/exfiltration
 The sealant is usually a polyurethane resin , acrylic grout and
epoxy resin.
