Watching movies is the author's most enjoyed activity. They believe it contributes to personal and professional development by making them more analytical and creative. As an example, art house films teach them to look at problems from multiple perspectives, which helped in their job negotiating with clients by considering issues differently and solving problems efficiently. Motivational movies about ordinary people achieving success also inspire the author to work hard and pursue their own ambitions of success.

of my free time?

4. But how do movies help me
develop personally and
professionally?
Watching a lot of movies has made me more analytical and
helped me develop a mind that thinks out of the box. I am
able to solve problems in different manners, and hence, I feel
that cinema not only relaxes me, but also has made me a very
creative young man.
For example, watching films by the art-house genre directors
such as David Lynch or Stanley Kubrick makes me look at
one thing from ten different angles.

5. At EY (Ernst and Young), where I had to deal with various
top clients, problem solving was considered to be a form of
art itself. But, you need to study art from a lot of different
viewpoints if you want to decipher it completely. Even the
Mona Lisa needn’t be observed only from one position, as it’s
eyes follow you wherever you stand.
I could negotiate with the client effectively, as I could look at
his problem differently and hence could also solve it in a
more time-efficient and result-oriented manner, thus helping
me develop into a successful professional.

6. But what gives me the most
pleasure while watching a
particular movie?

7. Movies which talk about the achievement of success by an
ordinary human being really pique my interest.
Since I am a very ambitious person, watching movies like
“The Pursuit of Happiness”, “The Social Network”, “Forrest
Gump”, “Rocky” etc., instill a lot of inspiration within me.
Watching ordinary people attain success in whichever field
they pursue shows me that if I put in the hard work and
determination in my life, even I can attain success and even I
will be spoken about in History books later on.

8. As all of us know, without some source of inspiration, it is
slightly difficult to develop the hunger to achieve success in
life. Some people admire real life businessmen, some listen to
music, but there are a few sects of people who get inspired by
watching motivating movies. I am one of the latter.
