17. notes
2. Health archetypes
a. Discuss- a health archetype is any habit that affects our overall well
positive or negative. These archetypes all come together to form a
balance in our bodys
3. Avoiders and Actives
a. Discuss- an active is a person that will frequently monitor all of these health
aspects. An avoider will continue to avoid consequences(like smoking)
4. Become a member of …….
Speak of smoking, if you wants to quit smoking, you should join a support
group to help you in your efforts to stop.
Repetition is a great way to maintain any habit.
5. Progress Checking ---> Repetition --- > Habit
Also, besides the group, you need to check your progress constantly, and this
repetition will help you to maintain your action until it become to a habit.
18. 6. Rethinking
a. Discuss- When finding time for a new habit like an exercise plan one might need to remove old
habits. So instead of going out with friends you might go to the gym that day. In order to create a new
habit, you need to get rid of the bad habits. Becoming self aware of your negative habits will be the first
step in improving yourself.
Instead of watching tv or going on the computer, get exercise.
7. Utilizing resources
a. For example weight watchers is a great resource for losing weight and will make your transition
into a new habit much easier.
B. Using the gym
Joining a gym will help you to stay focused on your goals of improving your physical health. Hofstra has
facilities that will help you to stay active and fit.
8. Slide 8- nudge- we've decided to focus on exercise for our nudge because of all the opportunities
available to exercise on campus such as…
-we wanted to encourage others to be aware of the small choices they make within a day, and how it can
effect their life
-the gym
9.- slide 9- everyone has free time throughout the school day but are you really using that time to your
benefit?
10. Slide 10- some people have large time gaps in between classes. Time that is taken for granted as
19. ● 11. Slide 11- something like daily exercise is a great way to utilize these time periods where a
student might have nothing productive to do
● 12. Bring yourself to the fitness center
Now, we all agree that exercise is a good habit but hard to keep in the long-term, therefore, for our
nudge, we decided to set up some reminders for students.
● 13. How is it going to work?
We will use signs as a reminder for students to visit the gym. Our signs will look like the one in the
picture. We think these signs will lead students to gyms promoting exercise during freetime.
● 14. Slide 14- Signs would be placed in the cafeteria where a majority of people pass through. And
would say something like this(then read photo) These signs will alert people to the closest gym.
● 15. slide 15- If these signs influence you to exercise then over time going to the gym will become a
normal part of your routine. You will develop the habit of going to the gym on a regular basis.
