How does GLOSOLAN work?

4. • Established in November 2017 (Bogor, Indonesia)
• Launched a regional Proficiency Test in 2018 | results
presented at the 2nd GLOSOLAN meeting
• Produced regional Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
in 2018 | to be integrated in the GLOSOLAN SOPs
Note: the Philippines are leading the writing of the GLOSOLAN SOP on Soil
Organic Carbon by Walkley and Black
• It is participating in the global PT 2019

5. • 2nd SEALNET meeting in November 2018 (Bhopal, India):
- Endorsement of regional SOPs
- Review of PT results
- Decision to work as per the GLOSOLAN’s work plan
- Started to work on the interpretation of laboratory results and the
provision of agricultural recommendations
- Define the position of SEALNET in GLOSOLAN
• 3rd SEALNET meeting in September 2019 (Manila,
Philippines)

11. • Established in May 2019 (Nairobi, Kenya)
• Agreed to work under GLOSOLAN and finalized the
harmonization of the GLOSOLAN SOP on Soil Organic Carbon
Walkley and Black
• Made a self-assessment (weaknesses/strenghts/opportunities)
including a review of their business plan
• Defined the position of AFRILAB in GLOSOLAN.

13. • All Pacific and PNG laboratories and the ASPAC executive
committee have agreed to establish the Regional Soil
Laboratory Network for the Pacific under ASPAC
• All laboratories are registered as members of ASPAC for 2019
• Funding has been sourced for the Pacific labs to participate in
the last round of the ASPAC ILPP (for labs not already
participating)
• A few selected laboratories will participate in the global PT
2019
• First official meeting in September 2019 [TBC]
