Thank you burglar for family lessons (39
1. To whoever burgled our house,
I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for taking our televisions, it means we've
talked more as a family. Thank you for making me realise all the materialistic items you
took aren't worth my tears as we as a family are safe and unharmed and that's the most
important thing. Things could of ended a whole lot worse. Thank you for making me
realise how much of an amazing support network we have around us of people who
have rang, messaged us, and come round to help and to comfort us. Thank you for
making me see the real importance of Xmas, spending time with loved ones and the
whole imagination Christmas brings to children. As I'm sat shaking and worrying,
thankfully we have managed to fool my little boy that buddy the elf and Disney his cat
made the mess and took his things and have hidden them so we've got to try and find
them. Knowing he doesn't have a clue that you ransacked our house Including his
bedroom gives me some sense of satisfaction. Knowing that grown adults stole a 4 year
old boys money box that he has saved every penny he's been given over the years in
makes me hope you've put that money to really good use....spend it on your children as
river wanted to buy a sad little boy who doesn't have any presents something for
Christmas out of it. We were due to donate it to the intu centre drop box. That way your
kind of making his little mission come true.
Also, you left behind one of my little boys Christmas presents, it was a sponge Bob
square pants iPad mini case, but come back and get it if you like as it's no good to him
now as he has no iPad or any other Christmas presents for that matter. I do hope you
have children though and that their face will light up in the same way i know my little
boys would of on christmas day. Some of the jewelry you took belonged to my dad who
passed away 6 years ago and some were final presents he brought for me. My dad was a
really generous person and id like to think I am too, so although you have completely
broken my heart and taken every last thing I had left of my dad (apart from his chef
whites) I hope whatever you manage to sell it all for brings you and your family some
sense of happiness, my dad (Paul Groome) liked to make people smile and would give
anything to anyone. However one particular item, a silver tiffany necklace has my name
on so is probably no good to you, this was the last present my dad ever brought for me.
Its a silver chain with a padlock and a large A on. If you could find anything at all in
your heart and wanted to post it back to me you know where I live and I really would
greatly appreciate it. You've literally left us with nothing, we feel broken, scared to be in
our beautiful new home we've worked so hard for and you've taken everything and left
us with nothing at all not even any make up or Christmas chocolate....but thank you for
making me realise how much I actually do truly love my husband and little boy.
Together as a 3 we will get through this. We were looking forward to a first Christmas
as a married couple and a first christmas in our new house and a last Christmas as a
family of 3 as I'm actually pregnant too, but you wouldn't know that as you trod on the
photos of my scans whilst stealing our passports and other documents.
Am i OK? No I'm not OK. You've taken my most treasured possessions that could never
be replace. I feel broken, scared and frightened. Every time a hear the tiniest noise I
panic in my own home which should be pur safe place, so im not ok no. But for the sake
of my wonderful husband who is so desparatly trying to hold everything together for
our little family and for my beautiful little boy who thinks everything is OK and doesn't
no strangers have been in his bedroom and for my lovely students who are suffering
because I haven't been there teaching them, I'm fine, I'll smile and il carry on.
Anyway I'm off to work to try and get back to normal and to try and salvage any
Christmas spirit I possible find. (The cleaners are at the house though so don't go back
for the iPad case just yet)
Many thanks
Alexandra Mahjouri (Groome)
