Ethan Gros - DTE Presentation
1. Name: Ethan Gros
School: Michigan State University
Major: Electrical Engineering
DTE Department: Distribution Operations
1
Expectation for Internship: Work on designing and developing
circuits throughout the Detroit Area.
2. Garfield’s Smart Fault Indicators
2
Objective:
Group of Interns developed an interactive display of Garfield substation’s circuits that used
the live readings from the Smart Fault Indicators
Execution:
Used PI Process Book
To re-draw Garfield’s
Network Bank Diagrams
and Secondary Cable
Diagrams.
To create live current
readings displays
To create buttons that
linked the Network Bank
Diagrams to the
Secondary Cable
Diagrams.
Conclusion:
By creating these drawings with the live current reading other engineers can go
and look at where problems are occurring in Garfield’s Circuits.

3. Future Plans for the Charlotte Substation
3
Objective:
Plan to convert the old cables, substation
and network banks into new 13.2 kV in order
to make the circuits more cost effective.
Execution:
Used ESRI
To removed an entire substation’s
circuits
To re-routed the cable so that it was
more cost effective
To determined where network banks
were need today and which network
banks could be converted.
To re-route circuits to other substations.
Conclusion:
Through completing this project and creating some CU Estimates the engineers will be able to
get better estimate on how much the project would cost DTE Energy to implement in the
future.

4. David Stott Building 13.2 kV
4
Objective:
Determine two circuits that could be routed to a
the high riser building.
Execution:
Used conduit maps and ESRI
To find what circuits
To find what routes.
To find length
One-line diagrams and Area Load Analysis
Determine whether the circuit could handle
the added load of the new building.
Conclusion:
CU Estimates were created to convey the cost.
Through the completion of this project a work
order would be created.
