1. Project Trainee at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited [BHEL] Corp. R&D Hyderabad
Duration: 21st
January 2015 to 16th
October 2015.
Project Title: Modeling and Simulation of PEM Fuel Cell with Grid connected Inverter
Description: Fuel cells are electrochemical devices that convert the chemical energy of a reaction directly into
electrical energy. Among the several types of fuel cell, Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is a
suitable choice for distributed energy sources. Synchronization of the inverter with grid and power export control
have been realized by using synchronously rotating reference frame. The converter used is a Voltage source
inverter (VSI) which is controlled using d-q reference frame to inject a controlled current into the grid. Phase Lock
Loop (PLL) has been used to lock inverter frequency and phase with those of grid. Sinusoidal PWM technique has
been adopted for generating switching signals for the inverter.
Platform/Tool: MATLAB/SIMULINK R2014a
Projects Accomplished:
1. Project Title: Stability Analysis Of Photovoltaic System With Pwm Control (Team size = 1)
Description: The design of P & O algorithm for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control
in a photovoltaic (PV) system. The PV system usually consists of a PV array that converts solar
energy to electrical energy, a DC/DC converter that converters low dc voltages produced by
the PV array to a high dc voltage (Boost converter), which is directly connected to load. The PV
system is modeled and is combined with a boost converter with PWM control in order to
analysis the stability.
Platform/Tools: MATLAB/SIMULINK R2013a
2. Project Title: Weight Determination using Short Term Load Forecasting on DE based ELM(Team size = 4)
Description: short term load forecasting is carried out using Evolutionary ELM. The weights between
input and hidden layers are optimized using DE. GA is sensitive to the population size and the number
of learning epochs is more whereas using DE, computational time is reduced with less number of
iterations. GA follows unified search but DE takes diversified search. The evaluation results indicate
that ELM with DE produces good prediction with reduced time than BPN with GA.
Platform/Tools: MATLAB/ Mfile(script) R2009b
3. Project Title: TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROL USING PIC 16F877 (Team size = 1)
Organization: Indian Institute of Software Testing
Description: Traffic lights are signaling devices positioned at road intersections,
pedestrian crossings and other locations to control competing flows of traffic. The
purpose of this design is to reduce the manufacture cost of the signal lights and to
use a minimum number of ports in a microcontroller and cable lines to transmit the
signals to the light source.
