Renewable Energy (SGRE) to complete the
grouting, craneage and installation of a 159.9
– 176.3 MW wind farm which will consist of
41 x SWT-DD-120 Turbines with Flexible
power rating of 3.9-4.3 MW wind turbine
generators (WTG) that will generate a
combined average of 542 GWh in renewable
power each year (enough to power more
than 70,000 homes)

5. Project Location
• The wind farm is located in the Maungaharuru Range within the Hastings District in
Hawke’s Bay, about 35km north-west of Napier. Address: 3508 Thermal Explorer Highway,
Te Haroto 4182. The project is expected to cover 9km within the range, spanning 1,235ha
of land.

6. Project details
• Start time is typically 7am for daily prestart. Please allow plenty of time to
access through site to travel to the site office located end of Hillary Road
access, west of wind farm.
• General site hours are 7am– 5.30pm Monday – Saturday, your Site
Manager/Supervisor will discuss any extra or changes to hours you may need
to undertake which will be dependent on working conditions and locations
• Breaks typically will be at 41am (30min) and 2pm (30min) and also will be
adjusted to suit working conditions and locations
• If you are sick, please let your supervisor know minimum 1 hour before start
time, do NOT come to site if you are sick
• Alcohol breath testing is daily prior to site entry and random testing will also
be conducted as required – Please note that a positive reading of any
amount will result in a red card (your access to any SGRE site will be revoked)
– Self check at offsite accommodation if in doubt.

12. Light Vehicle use and rules
• SGRE will authorize all light vehicles operating on the project, and must have:
– Four (4x4) wheel drive and Diesel Fuelled
– 9L Fire Extinguisher and First Aid Kit
– UHF Radio (Handheld is okay)
– Reverse Beeper and Rotating light beacon
– Spill trays/Kits and Fuelling pods available
• A Non 4WD (Diesel) permit must be submitted to SGRE for approval for any non
4x4 and/or Diesel light vehicle wanting to enter the site/project
• Persons driving on site must possess/hold current qualification/licence
• All vehicles must travel at a safe distance apart with clear visibility ahead
• Seat belts must be worn at all times
• No talking on mobile phones when operating vehicles/machinery
• Conduct vehicle periodic inspections
• Adhere to site speed limits
• Park vehicles such that they cannot unintentionally roll away from their parked
position
• Park into the wind to avoid damage to doors
• Park on Hardstand in direction of Egress
13. Traffic Management
• Due to site activities or changes in conditions there will be times when
specific traffic management plans will need to be implemented.
• These plans will be put in place by SGRE or SGRE’s Contractors and align
with Wind Farm Traffic Management Plan – Stage 1 requirements
• Any new and/or changes to traffic management will be announced at daily
prestart meetings
• Give way to heavy plant- dump trucks, diggers, concrete trucks etc.
• Keep to vehicle access ways and always use radio communication as per
project requirements
• Over dimensional vehicle/component planning & timeframes/radio &
escort communication to be presented at daily pre-starts and followed
through during in the field activities
• Mobile Plant/Transport travel paths must be known/clearly understood
prior, and any safe observations identified to be actioned/closed out

14. Mobile Plant
Mobile plant includes but not restricted to -
• Forklifts, tractors, Elevated Work Platforms (EWP’s), Trucks, Light Vehicles
(cars), Front end loaders and specialized vehicles (cranes)
• Persons operating Mobile Plant shall be trained, licensed and assessed (VOC)
as competent
• Mobile Plant shall meet current statutory standards and regulations, comply
with standards and be in good condition - e.g.
• NZTA, WOF or COF or other legislative requirements for Mobile Plant
• Daily prestart safety checks shall be conducted on all Mobile Plant prior to use
• The use of Cell phones while operating Mobile Plant is strictly prohibited
• Use the proper access ways for accessing and descending from Mobile Plant
• Spotters/signage must be in place where operators/operations can potentially
cause incident or harm (blind spots, works close to roads, etc.)
• Ensure eye contact & clearance (or radio) given by operator before passing

• all parties to stop work immediately, secure the situation/area
• raise the alarm as required and notify your Supervisor
• follow-up investigation and reporting closeout immediately
after the situation/event allows

19. Daily Reporting
The Quip-check app is the preferred reporting tool to comply
with SCC SIMS systems on this project, and includes the
following -
• Daily Prestart Meetings – before project works start
• Weekly Toolbox meetings – nominated day to suit onsite
needs
• Step Back 5x5 – complete prior to starting any new task
• Safety Observations (Good or bad observations)
• Hazard Reporting
• Incident Notification
• SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements) Reviewed signed.

20. Environmental
• Consideration and care must be taken when working within
the Kaiwera Wind Farm boundary limits to minimize any
impact/disruption to fauna & surroundings
• An onsite spill of ANY kind must be contained where possible
and reported immediately to your Supervisor or SHEQ Advisor
– all vehicles and machinery must carry spill kits when operating onsite
• Toilets will be provided and must be used when working
onsite – immediately report any faults or if the toilet requires
servicing to your Supervisor
• Please dispose of rubbish in the allocated bins provided –

21. Night works
• There may come a time during the project that a
weather window presents itself during the night and
we may ask you to work during these times
• in the event we do, a plan will be in place prior to
this occurring to ensure our fatigue is managed
correctly

22. Fatigue Management
Most incidents caused by fatigue follow a lack of
sleep or poor quality sleep.
Signs of fatigue –
• Yawning or feeling drowsy
• Impatience or slow reaction times
• Sore or heavy eyes, sweaty hands
• Hunger and Thirst or cramp
• Humming in ears
• Lapse in attention or reduction in
performance
• Keep an eye on your work mates for any
change in behaviour.
Sleep recommendations
• Minimum 6 hours continuous sleep in first 24
hour period
• Minimum 14 hours sleep over 48 hour period

Prevent fatigue by –
• Ensuring adequate sleep is achieved
• Eat healthy food, light nutritious meals
(heavy meals make you drowsy)
• Drink plenty of water and moderate
caffeine intake
• Avoid caffeine for at least 5 hours before
trying to sleep
• Alcohol negatively influences quality of
sleep, wait till days off to drink
• Take scheduled rest breaks
• Avoid medication that makes you sleepy
Tell your manager/supervisor if you are feeling fatigued or
are taking medication that could cause drowsiness

Clothing
•Wear close fitting, Hi - Vis clothing.
•If wearing long sleeve shirts ensure cuffs are
buttoned, short sleeve shirts are less likely to get
caught on moving parts, which can cause serious
harm or death.
Gloves
•Do not wear gloves when working near rotating
shafts or other moving machinery parts
•When wearing gloves for safety reasons, make
sure you have identified them as suitable for your
task
Boots
Boots should be worn correctly and laces, zips
secured for maximum support.
Safety Helmets
To be worn at all times with chin straps in place

24. • Ensure your work area is not cluttered before commencing a task
• Keep footpaths/walkways/accessways clear of material, equipment and
other trip hazards
• Keep areas clear around work stations
• Store material and tools safely, return tools after use in good condition
• Lay materials and tools flat instead of leaning them against walls
• Do not stack material and equipment overhead if it can be avoided
• Overhead stacking must be secured
• Keep areas around stacked material clear for the use of lifting devices
• Keep washrooms tidy and report any service requirements
• Have a plan for waste removal. It is not everyone's job to tidy up – it is
your job to tidy up (use the provided waste bins)
Please respect the onsite facilities and accommodation provided by keeping them
clean and tidy in respect of others who will be using the same facilities

25. When isolations and lock out tags are used on any plant or equipment, please
ensure you do not remove these tags
• If you require one please speak to your supervisor or onsite Mechanic
• Tags MUST be used and can only be removed by the person who attached
them
• LOTO is used when installing turbines and will be required to be undertaken
by and electrician, SGRE trained personal will be provided for this task
