MARKET UPDATES & STOCK RECOMMENDATION
The ringgit closed slightly lower against the US dollar today, ahead of the third-quarter growth data,
which would be announced by Bank Negara tommorow, dealers said. At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at
3.3380/3400 vis-a-vis the greenback compared with 3.3350/3370 on Wednesday. it hovered between
3.3345 and 3.3380 throughout the day.The ringgit was traded mostly higher vagainst other major
currencies.
Pos Malaysia Bhd has submitted the request for proposal to the government to manage the national fuel
subsidy rationalisation programme, said Group chief executive officer Datuk Iskandar Mizal Mahmood.
Speaking to reporters today, he said the company remained hopeful of being selected for the contract.
I-Berhad's pre-tax profit for the third quarter ended September 30, 2014 jumped to RM17.4 million from
RM3.7 million in the same period last year. Revenue rose to RM77.4 million from RM35.5 million in the
same period in 2013. In a statement today, I-Bhd said the higher pre-tax profit and revenue were
contributed by the property development segment.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) ended almost flat today after rangebound trade in line with
regional stock markets, dealers said. At 5pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at
1,815.18, down slightly to 0.43 of a point, after hovering between 1,810.73 and 1,820.5 throughout the
day. A dealer said Southeast Asian stocks were range-bound but remained resilient after China posted
softer than expected economic data.
Gas Malaysia is expected to enjoy a RM2 per British thermal unit (mmbtu) gas spread this year after
adjustments to the gas selling price and input cost, said AllianceDBS Research. In a research note today,
the research company said after the government's revision of the gas tariff, Gas Malaysia will increase its
average selling price by 2.3 per cent to RM19.77/mmbtu. AllianceDBS rated Gas Malaysia as 'hold' with
the target price of RM3.75.
Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were volatile at mid-afternoon today on mild gains on selected key-heavyweights
and the selling on small-capitalised stocks, dealers said. At 3.01pm, the FBM KLCI rose 0.23
of a point to 1,816.47, after moving between 1,814.35 and 1,820.5. British American Tobacco topped the
gainers' list to add RM1.84 to RM66.90. AMMB and TNB gained 10 sen each to RM6.36 and RM13.40
respectively.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd's (MAHB) acquisition of Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (ISG)
is credit negative, despite the rights issue financing, says Moody's Investors Service.
