OpenStreetMap Workshop, Accra
1) OpenStreetMap is a collaborative project to create a free editable map of the world. It was founded in 2004 and allows anyone to add and edit map data. 2) Data is collected through GPS devices, aerial imagery tracing, and local knowledge. Elements include nodes, ways, and areas tagged with descriptive keys and values. 3) OpenStreetMap data is used by many organizations and helps with disaster response. Its data and tools are freely available and it aims to map the entire world.
