NCC FUNDED RESEARCH
PROJECTS
6. THE PROBLEM
The increasing poor QoS experienced
by subscribers which manifest itself in
the forms of: Call failure, call drops,
and low received signal strength.
The increase in the number of Base
Transceiver Stations (BTS.)
The use of mobile phones with
multiple SIM slots in providing
temporary solution to these non-
abating problems.

than 5 phones
7. What makes up a Mobile
Phone ?
OUR THINKING
7
What makes up a network?
We believe that by developing
a system that can integrate
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and
embedded system, we can
provide solution to the
aforementioned problems on
either the access network in a
mobile network architecture
or on the mobile phone
architecture itself.
8. WHAT WE INTEND TO
ACHIEVEThe development of an AI based portable device, in form
of mobile phones, capable of providing seamless data and
voice connections over the existing MNOs
The proposed device is expected to provide subscribers
with the privilege of enjoying good services from available
operators without the added expenses of having more than
one phone or a phone with multiple SIM slots.
The proposed cognitive phone is expected to guarantee all
time access to networks with the best available signal
strength and QoS, even while on transit on Nigerian
highways and roads.

9. WE INTEND TO PROVIDE TECHNOLOGY TO A
SPINOFF COMPANY THAT WILL BE THE
LARGEST MOBILE NETWORK OPERATOR IN
NIGERIA WITHOUT BUILDING A SINGLE BTS
OUR VISION AND MISSION WITH
THE PROJECTOur
Vision
Our Mission
TO CONTINUOUSLY INNOVATE AND PROVIDE
TECHNOLOGY FOR SEAMLESS SWITCHING FROM
ONE NETWORK TO ANOTHER
TO PROVIDE MECHANISM FOR SUBSCRIBERS TO
INDEPENDENTLY MEASURE QOS PARAMETERS
ACROSS VARIOUS NETWORKS
TO UNREMITTINGLY OPTIMIZE THE DEVELOPED
PRODUCTS THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF
CURRENT RESEARCH FACILITIES FOR EFFICIENT 9

13. SUMMARY OF OUR
ACHIEVEMENTS:From the two funded research projects, we have been able to
achieve the following:
No Description Quantity Explanation
1
Products/Hardware
5 Development of 5 different market ready
products
2 Software 3 Number of software developed while executing
the projects
3 Publications 6 Contribution to knowledge through publications
in conference proceedings and high impact
journal
4 Manpower
Development
14 Number of manpower trained from the projects
aside the lead researchers and other colleagues
that participated in the projects.
5 Patent and
intellectual
4 Number of patentable products from the
research projects.
14. SUMMARY OF ACHIEVEMENTS
FROM NCC FUNDED PROJECTS
14
Where are those 14 that worked and wrote their thesis on
the two funded projects ?
No Present Engagement
2 Given special job before writing their final paper some
weeks ago (Special R and D project, Identified with Red
arrow in the picture)
2 Working in a University as Academics (With Blue
Arrow)
1 Working in the industry
2 Working in R&D (Special R and D project, not in the
picture)
3 Presently undergoing compulsory NYSC programme
(Green Arrow)
4 About going for NYSC programme (Yellow Arrow)
About 16 other STUDENTS/interns/mentees also contributed to the work (Those
without indicator in the picture). Though not as either M.Sc. and B.Sc. research
projects. In summary, all are doing greatly well too. All those in the pictures
contributed to the two projects
Editor's Notes
Discuss that it is
A software
Being in use in over 300 countries
However, due to the uniqueness of Nigerian system the developed techniques could not be applied to Nigerian case
The use of AVLPRS
Access control
Toll gate control
Trafic control
Crime fighting
Location of stolen vehicles etc
