How does your media
product represent particular
social groups?

2. In my film, I have made it so that all my actors are male and there
are no female parts to begin with in the opening scenes. This was
because, when researching about action films in general, a lot of the
film openings that I saw were dominated by male actors. There were
some female parts, but they rarely appeared in the opening scene.
Choice of Actors
3. In the opening scene, three groups of people are present with
contrasting levels of power. The groups were set out to show a
difference in a social hierarchy. One way that this was shown in the
scene is through the use of costume. The group of Henchmen were
dressed smarter and more formally to potentially show that they
were more powerful than Maurice. This was shown by the costume
worn by Maurice, portraying him as unkempt in contrast to the group
of Henchmen, who wore matching uniforms. The main boss was
then seen wearing a suit, that was meant to show the power and
dominance over the people around him. This links back to the social
hierarchy of the scene, showing clear differences between the social
groups and the power they have over each other.
Costume
5. I think that altogether, I have conformed with the general convention
of action movies, by using male characters as they appeal as more
dangerous and intense. I think that by using the male characters it
