1. WHAT KIND OF MEDIA
INSTITUTION MIGHT
DISTRIBUTE OUR MEDIA
PRODUCT AND WHY?
Question 3
2. BRINK VISION
After previously doing research on possible film distributors,
we found a variety of companies ranging from Brink Vision to
Warp Films to Breaking Glass Pictures. Focusing on these
three companies we researched into them deeply. All three of
these companies are known as independent, meaning they
make films seen as more controversial with a far smaller
budget than your usual blockbuster films. We chose our
producer to be Brink Vison as they are a relatively small but
respectable company. Psychosis is a low budget film, fitting
perfectly into Brink Vision’s criteria as it is both a thriller and is
independent. Being so respected in independent distribution,
it would be a good company to work with and let them
distribute our final production.
3. WHAT IF OUR FILM WAS DISTRIBUTED
BY A MAJOR COMPANY?
If Psychosis was produced and distributed by one of the big six
companies in America then it would have a different look completely.
Firstly, we wouldn’t have as much control of the production. For
example, the storyline would be changed drastically and may not be as
focused on her mental health issues and more focused on the horror
side of things. The production would have also been given a much
larger budget meaning we would have had access to more shots and
more equipment such as drones, body mounts and sliders for a more
professional look. And although the final product might have looked
better form an aesthetic viewpoint, the storyline may have been
pushed more to the side and wouldn’t come across as important as we
would have liked.
