Recce shots
1. RECCE SHOTS AND REPORT
The location for our film shooting is in Crowthorne, situated in
Bracknell Forest District. Location A is farmhouse house off of
Wellingtonia Avenue, this location will be used to shoot any
part of the story that involves having a house in shot, such as
the ending. Location B is Simons Wood, this is situated
approximately a 10 minute walk from location A and will be
used to shoot all the scenes that involves the forest or the car
going down the forest roads.
2. LOCATION A – FARMHOUSE
This is the farmhouse in which we will shoot the opening
scene when Jessie is getting ready and then cutting to
Chris taking drugs in his car outside the house, if this is
the direction we decide to go with the script. This house
has 5 bedrooms and 1 spare room, all of which would be
suitable to film the opening scene of Jessie getting ready
for the party. Outside the house in the front garden, there
is a car parking shed as well as a long driveway, both of
these locations within the house would be suitable to
shoot the opening scene. One of our potential ending
sequences consists of Jessie making it to the farmhouse
and knocking on the door, again this house is perfect, as
you can see, it has a porch which lights up at night,
leading up to the door way.
3. LOCATION A – FARMHOUSE
This is the lane leading up to the farmhouse, this will be used for
the ending scene when Jessie has spotted the farm house and is
running up this lane to get to it. This particular lane works, as it
is very similar to the forest in location B, but leads directly up to
the house, which would make that scene a lot easier to shoot as
we won’t have to do any dramatic edits on making two separate
locations look like they are one location, for this scene. However
in the cold and wet weather, this location does get very muddy
an d therefore this will need to be considered in our risk
assessment.
7. Location B, Simons Wood, is only a short walk away from the
farmhouse. This location is ideal for shooting ‘Jack out of the
Box’ as it located on the outskirts of a village area and therefore
is very quite with very few people walking through, only the
occasional dog walker and will therefore be a desirable external
shooting location, as there will be minimum disruptions. This
woods has a wide range of settings within it as it a mixture of
different areas, such as denser areas that are thick with bushes
and trees, this may be ideal when shooting Chris’s stalking
scenes. There are also locations within this woods that are less
dense and have footpaths, these may be therefore ideal for
shooting the scenes in which the couple walk down through the
forest and the scenes in which Jessie is running away from Chris
when he becomes possessed. The edge of Simons Wood, leads
onto various long country lanes, including Wellingtonia
Avenue, most of these country lanes do not get busy and
therefore may be ideal for shooting the car crashing/breaking
down scene. There are other various settings that this woods
can offer, for example there is a lake in the middle of the forest
and therefore we could consider shooting part of a scene
here, there is also a hill near the lake which looks onto the
forest, again this could be a potential location within this
location that we can choose to shoot in. Like the lane leading up
to the farmhouse, this forest does get very muddy and
wet, when there has been cold and rainy weather, as this is also
an external setting, we will also have to consider wet weather
when deciding when we are going to shoot the film, this
again, something that can be added to the risk assessment.
