KENYA AIRPORTS AUTHORITY (KAA) JUNE 2015- PRESENT
Duty: Management of Field Activities in the department of Corporate Planning
I coordinate all data collection activities in this department including tools verification,
Quality control, Data entry and cleaning. I train field teams and ensure that they get
passes to enable them get access to restricted areas within airports.
SMART REGIONAL CONSULTANTS (SEPTEMBER 2014 - APRIL 2015)
Title: Field Coordinator
I served the firm as a Field coordinator and Research Assistant. I managed several
primary data collection activities. My duties as an R.A included training other research
assistants on conducting in depth interviews with Key informants and beneficiaries of
development programs run by different donors. I also ensured that data collected from the
field was good quality before data entry took place. I prepared data entry templates using
excel and SPSS as well as transcribing and organizing scripts. Some of the programs I
participated in their evaluation were OMEP IV run by Islamic Relief, A farmers Program
run by CARITAS in Tharaka Nithi County, Stakeholders Program run KCDF in Kibera,
Mathare and Korokocho among others. In the cause of my work I conducted counseling
to women and the youth living with HIV in Tharaka and Kibera following an invitation
by the groups. I also prepared a skit which was presented by beneficiaries of IDEWES
Community Organization during World Aids Day.
RESEARCH INSIGHTS LIMITED- (APRIL- JUNE 2014)
Title: Field Coordinator/ Supervisor
I managed field work starting with tools preparation and translation and wrote field
reports at the end of every survey that was done by the firm within the period I worked
there. I conducted In Depth Interviews (IDIs) and facilitated focus group discussions as a
moderator. I coordinated writing and transmission of scripts and any other data entry
activities carried out in the firm. I also assisted in data cleaning activities.
DANDORA DUMPSITE REHABILITATION GROUP (JANUARY -APRIL 2014)
Title: Volunteer in Rehabilitating Women, Children and the Youth working in the
dump site
Together with the employees of the organization I participated in the exercise meant to
rehabilitate these groups, counseling them and placing them in less dangerous
environments including schools- for children and the youth and vocational training
centres for the women and the youth. I still visit them and participate in rehabilitation and
counseling whenever I have an opportunity
IPSOS KENYA (FORMALLY SYNOVATE) (MARCH 2006-DECEMBER 2013)
Title(s): Field Coordinator for Social and Market Research Projects (January 2009-
December 2013)
 I coordinated all social research studies commissioned to Ipsos. I fully
participated in tools translation, photocopy and dispatching to the field. One of the
clients I served was PSI Kenya. Some of the projects I coordinated included
AMFM, Tunza, HIV TRaC, Siri among others.
 I ensured that consent forms that came from the field carrying very confidential
information about respondents, were kept safe and only the client and I had access
to them after which I delivered them to the client within the agreed time.
 I also received and coordinated storage and movement of products and tools
meant for market and social research in and out of the company besides advising
other Ipsos field managers on the best practices that could lead to the achievement
of quality market and social research data.
DUTIES AS A FIELD COORDINATOR
• Training Interviewers and Supervisors on Research projects commissioned to
IPSOS. I trained both old and new teams intending to join Ipsos within and
outside Kenya. I did de briefs where need rose and thoroughly checked data
coming from the field to ensure that it was the quality that Ipsos wanted. I also
organized and facilitated trainings in and out of Ipsos Kenya office where clients
came to train Ipsos field staff.
• Planning and monitoring field teams- reporting to the director of public affairs
and marketing, I wrote reports on field progress and gave a daily update on all the
projects I managed. I also planned and monitored team movement while in the
field thereby ensuring that teams were transported in good time and had a place
for accommodation at the end of the day. I ensured that they had all tools they
required at any given time. I communicated any changes and challenges from the
field and ensured that field work was completed within or before the set timelines.
• Supervising questionnaire translations into different vernaculars and ensuring that
final copies were sent to design team on time
• Preparing budgets for field work
• Preparing quotations for clients intending to contract IPSOS
• Writing and submitting field and financial reports after field work completion
using Ms. Excel application for financial report, Ms. Word and PowerPoint for
field reports.
• Preparing payment documents (timesheets) for the teams I worked with
• Supervising and also conducting data entry using Ms. Excel and SPSS
applications

 FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSION FACILITATOR (JULY 2008-JANUARY

DUTIES AS AN FGD FACILITATOR
• Facilitating group discussions through recruitment and moderation both mini and full
focus groups.
• Conducting IDIs where I recorded information using Dictaphones
• Writing transcripts
 FIELD SUPERVISOR (JANUARY 2007-JULY 2008)
• I did supervision of field teams while in the field where I managed data collected
by back checking, accompanying interviews which were being conducted and
editing all questionnaires done. This ensured very high quality of the data I
delivered to the company. These included surveys like GjLos, Financial Survey
Deepening (FSDK)
• I supervised field work given by Proctor and Gamble where we talked to women
with children below the age of five years who used disposable diapers.
