The document discusses designing a mobile app for ordering food from the dining hall at Hofstra University's Student Center. Currently, most students order from kiosks, though some handwrite orders. The proposed app would allow students to order meals on their mobile devices, see order wait times, and view meal options at other stations. It would help address issues like environmental sustainability, the ability to pre-order and pick up food quickly, and accessibility for students who can't use kiosks. Potential features discussed for the app include viewing dining hours, submitting feedback, saving favorite orders, nutritional information, and sharing extra meal points with other students.

4. Observation Summary
- Most students order from the kiosks
- Those who don’t handwrite on paper
- Students will wait for their food in or around the cafe
- Every order is given a receipt/number
- The Student Center always has more foot traffic near dinnertime
- Students have to wait for their food at the Student Center, as
opposed to grab and go
- Can get very crowded around monitors/kiosks

5. Unmet Needs
- Environmental sustainability

6. Application Concept
An app that brings the kiosks/monitors onto a user’s mobile
device. This would allow users to order their meals on their
mobile devices, view the amount of orders currently in
progress, and when their order is available. Users will also be
able to view what is available at other stations and vote for
the weekly student’s choice poll.

9. Ideation Session
- Include dining hours
- Register suggestions/complaints
- Save and “favorite” past orders
- Include nutrition facts
- If food is vegan/kosher/gluten-free
- Have the ability to share extra meal points with other
students (like Venmo)
- Be able to schedule orders for a specific time
- View available meal points
