 Under the leadership of Ehab Al Shihabi, Al Jazeera
America received the Media Leader Award from
Malaria No More in 2014. A nonprofit organization,
Malaria No More seeks to end deaths from malaria, a
mosquito-borne disease, by educating the public and
policymakers about malaria and providing programs
focused on malaria prevention, treatment, and
education.
According to Malaria No More, half of the world’s
population is threatened by malaria, which kills
almost 500,000 people each year. The majority of the
people who die from malaria are children or pregnant
women.

 Malaria No More aims to eradicate the disease
by 2040 through the development of strategic
partnerships and the mobilization of global
resources.
The organization recognized Al Jazeera
America for regularly covering malaria as a
significant global health challenge. Mr. Al
Shihabi represented Al Jazeera America at the
awards gala in New York City, where guests
enjoyed performances by various Broadway
stars.
