The document is about the simple past tense in English grammar. It discusses what the simple past tense is, its characteristics, how to form it for regular and irregular verbs, examples of its use in affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences, and exercises for students to practice using it. Specifically:
- The simple past tense indicates an action that was completed in the past at a specific time. It uses the past form of verbs.
- Regular verbs form the past by adding "-ed" while irregular verbs have unique past forms.
- Examples show how to change sentences to the simple past affirmative, negative and interrogative forms.
- Exercises have students practice forming the negative simple past and filling in blanks

For verbs that end in -e, add -d (e.g. love/loved, recede/receded,
