EU are Activities and Products.
Work Package Activities and
Work Package Products,
this is a place to add all your

products, with exception of Staff
Exchanges.
On the page with Activities and
Products you can see all

year, partner or kind.

However… what is important for
EU are Activities and Products.
All products and activities done
within the OpenArch project (own
and EU money) need to be listed.
You will link to it from ONCAT.
We have a list with all WPs and…
under each WP you will get to
see a list with the entries:
activities and products.
You can add information to all
WPs, not just YOURS.

History
Based on your entries and
developments in the Project,
the Community Manager will
create short stories for History.
Those entries are also published
on EXARC’s websites (main and
Projects). This will stay on

7.Open Archaeology Newsletter
Open Archaeology
23
1. Venues
… almost 300, incl 75 Members of
EXARC. You can search on the
Gmap, using different filters. Members
are introduced here with their
extended page, while other have just
basic info:

Open Archaeology

2. Events
A selection is shown on the homepage
(header and content).
All together are on the event page.
Also here a good sorting possibility.
Open Archaeology
25
3. EXARC JOURNAL Articles
… presented in sections.
New articles from Mixed Matters are
coming weekly, while new articles on
AOAM and EA only 3 times a year
bundled in issues.
The last ones, are only for Members,
you need to log in to see them.
Open Archaeology
26
4. Bibliography
With over 10,000 items we can be
called the leading Bibliography on line.
Open to all, no restriction (also about
copying…).
Many options to search, a really good
tool for students, authors and others
interested.
Open Archaeology
27
5. Resources
… exists of :
•Images of the Members (which
Members added),
•Images which belong to Crafts
manuals (thematic),
•Promotion Videos,
•Manuals on Crafts (Archeon and
EXARC are working on it) and

The last two are paid by Grundtvig
Zeitgeist.

6. FAQ
Those questions of the visitors (over
200) were collected by EXARC during
the Culture 2000 Delphi Project 2004-
2005.
Some questions are from the partners
who joined the project, others from
members who wanted to participate.
In most cases questions are in two
languages: English and Native.
With a special filter you can search
through them.
Open Archaeology
29
7. Open Archaeology
Newsletter
First one to be sent in May to all the
Venues mentioned, free to
subscribe. With news about AOAM,
interesting articles published in
Journal, Tips on Events and
Adverts.
Marketplace
30
A place to advertise, for Inst. and
Individual Members. They can offer
their goods or services. Also if you
look for something you can post that
on
Our Marketplace.
The base for it is the Ancient Craft
Network (Grundtvig Didarchtik), with
the possibility for the Craftsmen to
advertise themselves, but it can be
used as well by our Inst. Members.
It will be only accessed through
EXARC website, as there we get our
main target group for that content.
The adverts also show on the
members pages.
EXARC JOURNAL
31
With our Journal on line, we have set
high standards.
New issues with approximately 20
articles appear 3 times a year
(January, May, September).
Some articles for all, some
for Members ONLY.
In between on almost weekly base,
new Mixed Matters articles are
published (open to all).
We are promoting each and every
article through different Social Media.
We are also sending an EXARC
newsletter when a new issue is out.
EXARC JOURNAL
32
Since we started with Journal on Line
(end of December 2011) we have
placed 57 articles.
By the end of 2012 we should have
about 100 articles on line.
Our Journal on Line will be advertised
in ICOM newsletter.
We are giving free login for 2 months
to about 30,000 ICOM members.
What will happen we do not know…
Visitors numbers
33
The visits to our websites have increased
by 350% since December 2011.
We had to upgrade our hosting 3 times last weeks, as what
we had was not enough to keep up with all the visitors.
We got in the first three months of 2012 as many
new Members in EXARC, as we normally have in a year.
Visitors numbers
34
So it is working!
EXARC.net and EXARC JOURNAL are proving to be
excellent tools to reach more museums and people
interested in Archaeology, as well as Museum
organisations (ICOM).
And with Open Archaeology we also target another
important group.
IT WORKS - Portal
35
Because we form a Portal of different websites we can offer better
information focused on our Target Groups.
That seems to be one of the winning formula.
The information is shared throughout websites for example:
1.Your Member page on EXARC – Members, is the same as you presentation on
OpenArch website and Open Archaeology.
2.The events shown on Open Archaeology, are also on EXARC website.
3.JOURNAL articles can be viewed and on JOURNAL website and Open Archaeology.
4.Bibliography (over 10,000 titles) is linked to JOURNAL articles as well as Members
pages.
5.The images which are under Members Pages, are also cumulated together in the
Resources
6.All events and adverts, added by Partners also show on your partner page.
7.All History show on EXARC, depending on the subject, also shows on other websites.
8.Press Releases and Press Clippings which you will add with different entries, will also be
cumulated together under Resources.
IT WORKS –
SOLR and filters
36
We have created a powerful
means to allow the website to
be efficient.
As it is not just about having
a product but also about giving
a proper tool to use.
A special Search Engine – to allow not
only search on keywords, but deep
search through the websites (on
country, eras, tags, content type, role)
and specifically on Bibliography (with
several options: author, year, type,
language, and more).
IT WORKS –
SOLR and filters
37
We have created a powerful
means to allow the website to
be efficient.
As it is not just about having
a product but also about giving
a proper tool to use.
All relevant content is also connected
through different Keyword, like:
country, Era(s), Tags. Some also
have: Roles and Visitors Numbers
IT WORKS – Social media
38
Promoting, Promoting, Promoting
As it is not just about having a product but also about promoting it.
With the help of the Community Manager we have reached public
we did not have access to before.
And we keep reminding them about every new thing we do.
Planning
39
We have done all what we discussed last year…
and probably even more.
Things which will happen still:
1.Open Archaeology newsletter, first is due May 2012
2.We want to connect Bibliography entries with Individual Members pages and People
Behind, so for example on the page of Dr Linda Hurcombe, also all her relevant articles
and books will be mentioned.
3.We want to add some animations, which were made over past years.
4.Add more manuals and republish articles from EuroRea and others
5.We are considering adding Comments to Journal and Adverts, but it also means more
moderating.

  • 21. Open Archaeology 21 The website for public, introducing AOAMs and Archaeology. It exists of: 1.Venues 2.Events 3.EXARC JOURNAL Articles 4.Bibliography 5.Resources 6.FAQ 7.Open Archaeology Newsletter
  • 22. Open Archaeology 22 On the homepage in the header we feature 10 venues, events and articles. Each time a different set. The website for public, introducing AOAMs and Archaeology. It exists of: 1.Venues 2.Events 3.EXARC JOURNAL Articles 4.Bibliography 5.Resources 6.FAQ 7.Open Archaeology Newsletter
  • 23. Open Archaeology 23 1. Venues … almost 300, incl 75 Members of EXARC. You can search on the Gmap, using different filters. Members are introduced here with their extended page, while other have just basic info: •open since, •member EXARC / ICOM, •image, •text, •country, •eras, •tags, •roles, •address, •website, •Google map
  • 24. Open Archaeology 24 2. Events A selection is shown on the homepage (header and content). All together are on the event page. Also here a good sorting possibility.
  • 25. Open Archaeology 25 3. EXARC JOURNAL Articles … presented in sections. New articles from Mixed Matters are coming weekly, while new articles on AOAM and EA only 3 times a year bundled in issues. The last ones, are only for Members, you need to log in to see them.
  • 26. Open Archaeology 26 4. Bibliography With over 10,000 items we can be called the leading Bibliography on line. Open to all, no restriction (also about copying…). Many options to search, a really good tool for students, authors and others interested.
  • 27. Open Archaeology 27 5. Resources … exists of : •Images of the Members (which Members added), •Images which belong to Crafts manuals (thematic), •Promotion Videos, •Manuals on Crafts (Archeon and EXARC are working on it) and •Glossary (Hunebedcentrum). The last two are paid by Grundtvig Zeitgeist.
  • 28. Open Archaeology 28 6. FAQ Those questions of the visitors (over 200) were collected by EXARC during the Culture 2000 Delphi Project 2004- 2005. Some questions are from the partners who joined the project, others from members who wanted to participate. In most cases questions are in two languages: English and Native. With a special filter you can search through them.
  • 29. Open Archaeology 29 7. Open Archaeology Newsletter First one to be sent in May to all the Venues mentioned, free to subscribe. With news about AOAM, interesting articles published in Journal, Tips on Events and Adverts.
  • 30. Marketplace 30 A place to advertise, for Inst. and Individual Members. They can offer their goods or services. Also if you look for something you can post that on Our Marketplace. The base for it is the Ancient Craft Network (Grundtvig Didarchtik), with the possibility for the Craftsmen to advertise themselves, but it can be used as well by our Inst. Members. It will be only accessed through EXARC website, as there we get our main target group for that content. The adverts also show on the members pages.
  • 31. EXARC JOURNAL 31 With our Journal on line, we have set high standards. New issues with approximately 20 articles appear 3 times a year (January, May, September). Some articles for all, some for Members ONLY. In between on almost weekly base, new Mixed Matters articles are published (open to all). We are promoting each and every article through different Social Media. We are also sending an EXARC newsletter when a new issue is out.
  • 32. EXARC JOURNAL 32 Since we started with Journal on Line (end of December 2011) we have placed 57 articles. By the end of 2012 we should have about 100 articles on line. Our Journal on Line will be advertised in ICOM newsletter. We are giving free login for 2 months to about 30,000 ICOM members. What will happen we do not know…
  • 33. Visitors numbers 33 The visits to our websites have increased by 350% since December 2011. We had to upgrade our hosting 3 times last weeks, as what we had was not enough to keep up with all the visitors. We got in the first three months of 2012 as many new Members in EXARC, as we normally have in a year.
  • 34. Visitors numbers 34 So it is working! EXARC.net and EXARC JOURNAL are proving to be excellent tools to reach more museums and people interested in Archaeology, as well as Museum organisations (ICOM). And with Open Archaeology we also target another important group.
  • 35. IT WORKS - Portal 35 Because we form a Portal of different websites we can offer better information focused on our Target Groups. That seems to be one of the winning formula. The information is shared throughout websites for example: 1.Your Member page on EXARC – Members, is the same as you presentation on OpenArch website and Open Archaeology. 2.The events shown on Open Archaeology, are also on EXARC website. 3.JOURNAL articles can be viewed and on JOURNAL website and Open Archaeology. 4.Bibliography (over 10,000 titles) is linked to JOURNAL articles as well as Members pages. 5.The images which are under Members Pages, are also cumulated together in the Resources 6.All events and adverts, added by Partners also show on your partner page. 7.All History show on EXARC, depending on the subject, also shows on other websites. 8.Press Releases and Press Clippings which you will add with different entries, will also be cumulated together under Resources.
  • 36. IT WORKS – SOLR and filters 36 We have created a powerful means to allow the website to be efficient. As it is not just about having a product but also about giving a proper tool to use. A special Search Engine – to allow not only search on keywords, but deep search through the websites (on country, eras, tags, content type, role) and specifically on Bibliography (with several options: author, year, type, language, and more).
  • 37. IT WORKS – SOLR and filters 37 We have created a powerful means to allow the website to be efficient. As it is not just about having a product but also about giving a proper tool to use. All relevant content is also connected through different Keyword, like: country, Era(s), Tags. Some also have: Roles and Visitors Numbers
  • 38. IT WORKS – Social media 38 Promoting, Promoting, Promoting As it is not just about having a product but also about promoting it. With the help of the Community Manager we have reached public we did not have access to before. And we keep reminding them about every new thing we do.
  • 39. Planning 39 We have done all what we discussed last year… and probably even more. Things which will happen still: 1.Open Archaeology newsletter, first is due May 2012 2.We want to connect Bibliography entries with Individual Members pages and People Behind, so for example on the page of Dr Linda Hurcombe, also all her relevant articles and books will be mentioned. 3.We want to add some animations, which were made over past years. 4.Add more manuals and republish articles from EuroRea and others 5.We are considering adding Comments to Journal and Adverts, but it also means more moderating.
