Go to the toolbar at the top of the screen, click 'Plugins' and select from three options: 'Fetch' to download plugins from repositories, 'Manage' to enable or disable downloaded plugins, or view the list of active plugins. Plugins are displayed in drop-down menus or toolbars, such as the 'Table Manager' plugin found under the 'Vector' menu, which is used to create and modify database fields.

NB – this list tells you where the
Plugins will be displayed, in a drop-
down menu or toolbar.
You will see the active Plugin
menu/toolbar icons appear in a
row across your screen

Use the Table Manager to create
or delete fields in the database, or
move them up/down. This is
where you specify the form of
data, be it numerical or text (an
integer, real or a string).
