Fermented dairy can target Indians leading an active
lifestyle
• In the case of packaged yogurt, the highest consumption was during lunch.
• Interestingly, among Indian adults who exercised regularly, packaged yogurt consumption increased to 56%.
• This indicates opportunity for manufacturers to specifically target Indian consumers who lead active lifestyles, highlighting
Greek yogurt’s higher protein content as an aid for post-workout muscle recovery or as a pre-workout energy booster.
According to Mintel research, only 44% of urban Indian adults aged 18-64 had consumed pre-packaged yogurt in
the three months to June 2016. Of those who had consumed packaged yogurt, only 28% had done so every day.
