Microsoft Teams is the hub for communication and collaboration. Teams can connects people across scenarios from teaching, research, project management, student life and any other scenario that teamwork is required.
Microsoft Teams is a powerful communication platform but it is not just for chat, calling and online meetings. Teams is the hub for Office 365 apps allowing you to work together in real-time on documents and other Office apps. Teams is also an open platform allowing you to integrate hundreds of apps from the App Store
Key message – Microsoft Teams can be used across many scenarios whenever there is a need for a group of people to communicate and collaborate together.
Finally, Microsoft Teams provides industry leading security and compliance capabilities and rich management capabilities.
With Microsoft Teams, customers benefit from the Office 365 hyper-scale, enterprise-grade cloud.
[MAIN POINT TO LAND]
From Day 1, the requirement has been for Teams to provide you with the same Office 365 capabilities that you’re used to and to build security, privacy and trust directly into the service.
You can manage and monitor all features in one centralized portal:
Data encryption at all times, at-rest and in-transit.
Customer data at rest remains in region
Ability to have local data residency for core customer data at rest, plus failover and disaster recovery (see data residency slide in the appendix for details)
Human back-up via on-call support engineers standing by 24×7
Customer content is never accessible in logs or telemetry
Multi-factor authentication for enhanced identity protection.
Secure guest access with AAD managed guest accounts
A big privacy topic for all our European customers is of course GDPR – the Global Data Protection Regulation. We will adhere to this ahead of the May 2018 deadline
Microsoft Teams supports key standards including SOC 1, SOC 2, EU Model Clauses, HIPPA, and more. Since preview, we’ve added mobile management with Microsoft Intune and new features for compliance and litigation support, including audit log search, eDiscovery and legal hold for channels, chats and files.
The Microsoft Teams admin center [coming early 2018] provides you with a single coherent admin experience where you can manage all aspects of Microsoft Teams including users, settings, and analytics.
Teams provides enterprise manageability to configure and set policies at a per-user level and manage trusted apps for employees and the organization.
PSTN connectivity in Office 365 will give you the option to connect existing on-premises investments in the future.
Advanced call management controls include call routing, auto attendant, call queues, and reporting.
While security and compliance are critical, our responsibility goes beyond this. Our mission talks about empowering every person to achieve more. With that in mind, we’re focused on building an inclusive experience, including support for those who use screen readers, high contrast, and keyboard-only navigation, to enable the collective brainpower and potential of everyone.
Work has change to focus on teamwork. Microsoft Teams is the leading app for modern collaboration.
Teams is now the fastest growing business app in Microsoft History!

And this is across multiple industries.
This is a platform to help students develop skills for their profession.
[This is an animated slide. Please show it in presentation mode]
[MAIN POINT TO LAND]
Microsoft Teams is a hub for teamwork, a chat-based workspace that enables teams to be more productive by giving them a single and secure location that brings together everything a team needs: chats, meetings, calls, files, and tools. Microsoft Teams is one place for all the needs your teams have.
Microsoft Teams delivers on four core promises to create a digital workspace for high performing teams.
[COMMUNICATE]
First, Microsoft Teams solves for the communication needs of a diverse workforce.
Since preview, Microsoft Teams has evolved to a complete meetings and calling solution, incl. chat, voice and video, as we have completed our roadmap for bringing Skype for Business Online features and functionality into Teams. You can use Teams for informal 1:1 or group chats – directly on your phone if you’re on the go. Or you can have an open conversation in a channel. This enables people to share information in a transparent way to accelerate decision making. And it's super easy to move from a chat into a face to face meeting, helping you to bridge geographical barriers.
[COLLABORATE]
When it comes to collaboration, the deep Office integration enables today’s multigenerational workforce to use the Office apps they are familiar with and love - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint, Planner, even Power BI - right within the context of Teams.
You can avoid email attachments and having to search for the latest version of a document. Teams brings all the Office 365 services together – so that you can easily share and co-author files.
[CUSTOMIZE]
Many of you use other services than Office 365 as well which results in you having to jump between and spend time in disparate experiences. We built Teams to be the hub for all the services and tools your teams use on a day to day basis. So, you can customize Teams with tabs, connector and bots to include the apps and services you need - <mention relevant 3rd party apps like GitHub and Trello>. We have also created an extensible platform, to enable building apps and to integrate with business processes.
And for Firstline workers, Teams provides an additional set of capabilities including schedule management.
[WORK WITH CONFIDENCE]
Microsoft Teams comes with the enterprise grade security, compliance and manageability that you expect from Office 365 which customers tell us is a huge value add for them.
Microsoft Teams is the digital hub that brings conversations, content, assignments, and apps together in one place. It is purpose-built for Education and customized for the way institutions collaborate. In Teams, you can:
Create collaborative courses that save instructors time and better engage students in modern learning
Personalize learning by assigning tailored lessons and providing transparent feedback
Connect educators in professional learning communities to improve teaching skills and student outcomes
Streamline staff communication on campus-wide initiatives with integrated communication tools

If some apps are blocked at your institution you can find all the app available for Teams here https://aka.ms/TeamsUniversityStoreApps
Ask everyone to install on their smartphone and laptop to ensure there’s no issues.
Important to have people participate from both phone and laptop to ensure they see Teams across experiences
This slide matches with the Engage section of the Presentation plan. It’s a review of basic Teams layout and function, which was covered in Course 1.
You can use the image on the slide to quickly review the main features and layout of Teams, or you can demonstrate how to use the features in a practice environment (keeping in mind time limitations). We’ve provided a script below that you can use in its entirety. However, if you’re very savvy about how to use Teams, feel free to go off script and describe things in your own, more conversational manner.Say this:
“This is what Teams looks like when you log in.”
“I’m going to take you through each of these sections and review what you can do with them.”
“As we work, there are two handouts in your materials that can provide extra support.”
“The first is a takeaway called Teams spaces, which gives an overall mapping of where various features live in Teams. If you find it helpful, use this to take notes on.”
“The second is a takeaway called Test your knowledge of Teams features handout. You can fill in the blanks as we go, or you can test your knowledge later with the answer key provided.
“Don’t worry if you’re feeling overwhelmed.”
“The following is intended as a brief overview.”
“It will start to come together for you when you’re playing with the features yourself, which we’ll start doing in a little bit.”
Do this:
Hold up the Teams spaces takeaway and the Test your knowledge of Teams features handout.
As you move into the next section, point to the features on screen.
Time frame: 1 minute

“Notifications let you know when someone has communicated with you, either through an @mention, chat, conversation, or comment like.”
“Chats are where you can communicate privately with colleagues or students.”
“Selecting Teams lets you navigate between your teams and their channels.”
“Meetings is where you can schedule and see what you have on your calendar.”
“Files is where you can see all of the files you have access to across all teams.”
“Assignments is where you can see the assignments you’ve created, check in on who has turned in what, and return feedback and grades.”

This is a fun way got training attendees to practice the training and content covered. For best success the physical room should be classroom style seating with round of square tables with approximately 5 people to a table. Each table is a group who need to work together to complete the 5 challenges.
Each task can be completed multiple ways
1. Organize a group project with your teammates – Solution: Add the Planner tab and assign a task to a fellow team member
2. Create a presentation – Solution: Add a PowerPoint into to Files and each team member should have a slide on their favorite holiday location, such as Australia.
3. Share the weather report for the beach tomorrow – Solution: Use the Weather apps to add the forecast. Note: This is a used from the ellipses (…) in the conversation message box
4. Quickly gather the team's opinion in an efficient way – Solution: Use either the Forms or Polly bot from the store to quickly create a survey. Example, @Polly What day should we meet? Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
5. Stay up to date with your University news via social media - Solution: Use the Twitter app from the store to follow the institutions social media account for the latest updates.
Ask your audience to visit the website link aka.ms/TeamsUniversity from any device.

These resources will help attendees in their journey using Microsoft Teams.
Optional.
When to use Teams.
Inner loop communication are the people you communicate with at least once a week.
Outer loop are large communities, such as Vice Chancellor address to staff
More details on the concept here - https://www.microsoft.com/itshowcase/Article/Content/1013/Deploying-Microsoft-Teams-streamlines-collaboration-and-improves-teamwork
While some of this is still in the works, we already have AI powered capabilities in Teams today.
Inline message translation allows you to translate messages in channels and chat - into almost 40 languages. With a simple click, people who speak different languages can fluidly communicate with one another ensuring that every worker in the team has a voice and facilitate global collaboration.
Meeting recording and transcription powered by Stream enables all team members to easily catch up on missed meetings as you can read the transcription, search within the conversation, and playback all or part of the meeting.
With the mobile companion mode, Teams picks up if you are in a meeting room or suggests that you can use your phone as a companion device, so you can for example advance slides from your phone.
With background blur, participants can blur their background during a video call to ensure professional meetings on-the-go or avoid possible disturbances in the background like a dog running into the room. This allows other meeting attendees to focus on you, not what’s behind you.

Mentions
@mentioning someone is the easiest way to let users know something needs their attention in Teams
It notify users (by default) and it’s highlighted in the Activity area, making it easy to find where the conversation is
To simplify the conversation it’s possible to @ mention someone and then delete the last name(s), keeping just the first name
Notifications
If the email culture is strong in your company, teaching users how to set up (email) notifications in Teams may improve adoption
Teams can email users when they’re mentioned, someone replies a conversations, followed channels, likes
This is a great way to remind users about what’s going on in Teams, so nobody misses out
Users can define how they want to be notified, banner and/or email for specific events in Teams
This will be shown later in the hands on: Settings > Options > Notifications
Channels
Channels are dedicated sections within a team to keep conversations organized by specific topics, projects, disciplines - whatever works for your team!
Team channels are places where everyone on the team can openly have conversations. Private chats are only visible to those people in the chat
Channels can be customized/extended with Tabs, Connectors, and Bots
