Volume Testing
1.
2. VOLUME TESTING is a testing done on high volume of
data.It belongs to non-functional testing. It is performed in
the part of performance testing where a software product
or application with high volume of data is tested, like huge
number of data files or data records in the system. It is
also known as Flood Testing.
3. Why is volume testing used:
• To check the system performance with increasing
volume of data in the database.
• Volume testing will help to identify the capacity of the
system or application – normal and heavy volume.
• To check the efficiency of the system by increasing
the data.
4. • To identify the problem that are likely to occur with large
amount of data.
• To figure out the point at which the stability of the system
degrades.
• EX: Testing a music site behaviour when there are millions
of users to download the song.
5. Volume testing-Checklist:
Verify if there is any data loss.
Check the system’s response time.
Verify if the data is stored correctly or not.
Check the data is overwritten without any notification.
Check whether high volume data affects the speed of
processing.
6. Benefits of Volume Testing:
• By identifying load issues,a lot of money can be saved
which otherwise will spent on application maintance.
• It helps in quicker start for scalability plans.
• It assures your system is now capable of real world usage.
7. SUMMARY:
• Volume testing is a way to check system performance for
higher data loads.
• It is a non-functional testing.
• Volume testing will help to identify the capacity of the
system.
