NATIONAL SCHOOL DEWORMING
According to the Department of Health, Soil Transmitted Helminthiasis
(STH) can causepoor Physicalgrowth, Poor intellectual Development in children
and can resultto Anemia and Malnutrition not only in children but also among
women of child bearing aged, they emphasized that abdominalpain, vomiting and
Dizziness arenormalsymptoms associated with deworming. Futhermore, all
medications given by Department of Health (DOH) to the public were
recommended by World Health Organizations (WHO) and Inspected by Food and
Drug Administration (FDA).
In the conduct of the said activity the parents are well informed about the
medications as well as the possibleside effect and parent’s consentwas secured
before the start of the activity. The children are encouraged to be in a Full
stomach, said activity started Hand washing, Feeding and Tooth brushing, This is
to prevent fromany side effects of the medicines and other possible
complications.
Thus, higher percentage rate was obtained fromdifferent schools
nationwide. The Activity was conducted yearly especially during the month of
January and July. Moreover, the higher percentage rate of dewormed children
leads to lower percentage rate of children suffering fromSoil Transmitted
Helminthiasis. Furthermore, the Success of the activity depends on the
collaboration of the Department of Education ( DEP-ED) and the Department of
Health (DOH) as well as the Cooperative Parents.
