This document outlines a presentation on the teaching method known as suggestopedia. It begins with identifying the presenter and their academic credentials. The presentation then defines suggestopedia as a teaching approach developed by Georgi Lozanov based on how the brain works and optimal learning conditions involving relaxation. Key aspects of suggestopedia are explained, including the use of music, relaxation exercises, verbal suggestions, and active/passive presentation of material. The benefits outlined are faster language learning, reduced stress, and improved performance. The presentation aims to observe how suggestopedia can effectively link students to curriculum when teachers use innovative strategies and address any issues.

• The term ‘SUGGESTOPEDIA’ developed by
Bulgarian doctor and psychotherapist Lozanov
• He known as ‘Father of Accelerated Learning’
• The human brains could process great quantities of
material if given the right conditions for learning
which are states of relaxation
“Learning is a matter of attitude, not aptitude”

5. Jens Martensson
• This method is a teaching method based on a modern
understanding of the students brain works and how we learn
most effectively
• The term ‘Suggestopedia’ derived from
- Suggestion
- Pedagogy
• Refer to similar accelerated learning Approaches
• Set of learning recommendation derived from ‘Suggestology’
• Draws insights from Yoga and soviet psychology

What is Suggestopedia?
6. Jens Martensson
Innovative Strategy of Suggestopedia
• Music: Background Music
• Relaxation: Relaxation exercise before the beginning of
the lesson ( Davis, Eshelman and McKay)
• Suggestion: One direct verbal suggestion(“ Learning
will be easy for you today”, Schuster and Gritton,
1986)

frame of mind
• First Concert- “Active Concert”: Active presentation of
the material to be learnt
• Second Concert- “Passive Review”: Listen to some
music with the text being read very quietly
• Practice: Use of games, puzzles to consolidate learning
during the classroom of the target language

7. Jens Martensson
• Teacher can teach languages approximately tree
time as quickly as conventional methods
• Feel relax in the reading without pressure
• Narrative text- student might enjoy the reading
• Having comfortable classroom setting with music
related to the story
• Performance level increased after post test
• Significant impact of the use of suggestopedia for
enhancing learner’s language abilities

Benefits of the Suggestopedia
“a science… concerned
with systematic study of
non rational and/or non
conscience influences”
-Georgi Lozanov
8. Jens Martensson
• How does suggestopedia is useful?
• To observe a link between students and curriculum
• Are teachers using a various innovative strategies for effective
learning and teaching
• How far students and teachers are comfortable with this
method
• Teachers and students can solve those problems by adopting
innovative strategies
