Reference Letter for Dempsey Mai
July 2016
Dempsey was the researcher for Colobus Conservation, Diani Beach, Kenya, from
October 2014 to June 2016. Dempsey is one of the principle researchers on a project
titled: An Investigation in to Primate Crop Raiding from Farmland Surrounding Gongoni
Forest and Buda Forest, Kwale District, Kenya. His daily responsibility is detailed data
collection on crop foraging of wildlife on four farms, he also oversaw two research
assistants, other responsibilities included producing an education programme for farmers
in the area and organising meetings with community members. Datasets collected
covered behavioral and feeding ecology, proximity, wildlife interactions and a series of
habitat assessments.
This work requires a high level of dedication, excellent communication skills and
commitment with over 48 working hours a week in the field.
Dempsey’s upbeat demeanor and ‘can do’ attitude made him a very low maintenance staff
member. I give Dempsey my strongest recommendation for roles which require
intelligence, commitment, communication skills and a positive attitude. Please feel free to
contact me if you need additional information or perspective.
