HSL DELTA FORCE PROJECT
• Positive contribution to the UVA Sustainability Plan
• Reduces HSL electricity consumption & bills
• Paid with electrical savings: essentially no cost to HSL
2. DELTA FORCE MODEL
Delta Force is a group of five
energy engineers within FM who
implement energy efficiency
measures in existing buildings
We partner with in-house
stakeholders and external
consultants to identify possible
measures and see them through
implementation
Typically energy savings range
from 25-40% in savings from a
‘base year’
Paybacks are kept within 5-7
years
Customers don’t pay for any of
the upfront capital. Delta Force
pays for all expenses
Customers have their utility bills
held constant, the difference in
energy expenses from the base
year and proceeding years goes
towards paying off all Delta Force
expenses +25%
3. REDUCE UTILITY BILLS
• The drop in energy expenditures from FY15 to
FY17 was the result of a previous Delta Force
project which focused on large HVAC pieces of
equipment
• The previous Delta Force project has already
recovered its investment +25%, the payback
recovery took 4 years
• SO FAR, we’re estimating another ~34% in
energy savings is possible
• Delta Force is in the process of securing
deferred maintenance funding to replace old
HVAC equipment and components
