• We wrote services (represented as classes) and algorithms (methods)
that would behave as would be expected in a device using the 802.11p
protocol.
• To facilitate validation and testing, as well as to make data tangible to
users, my team also wrote a prototype test bench which would run
our services in a multithreaded manner.
• To display data meaningfully, a GUI was written to display alerts and
provide controls to the user, to view changes to data interpretation by
services in real time.
• Personal contributions include a resizable speedometer graphic for
the GUI interface implemented using Java.awt.Graphics2D, with a
moving needle, and the refactoring of services to utilize a template
design pattern. This was done to reduce redundancies and to make
the addition of new services easier. For all aspects of the coding, I
performed design choices and the identification and rectification of
“code smells”.
• Application was written in Java, using Eclipse, on computers running
Windows 10. The library used by the IDE used was jre 1.8.0_40.
