Kindest Regards,
Mary Kranitis
Founder Juvenile Arthritis/Uveitis Fundraiser
To Whom This May Concern,
I am the mother of George Kranitis, aged 17. At age 2 my son was diagnosed
as one of thousands with Juvenile Arthritis and Uveitis, a disease that is
aggressively debilitating and painful. This disease affects my son’s joints,
growth, cognitive learning, as well as his vision. He has undergone countless
operations and procedures, including chemotherapy over the past 10 years,
and still no cure has been found. My son lives a life riddled with pain.
I guess I’m no different to most mothers when it comes to our children.
Watching your child suffer is the worst thing a parent can endure. So for the
past seven years, I have been campaigning to friends, organisations, businesses
and the general public alike for their support through fundraising. I would like
to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their overwhelming generosity
thus far, as our combined efforts have enabled the University of New South
Wales (UNSW) to open the first ever research laboratory for Juvenile
Arthritis/Uveitis in Australia. This is an enormous feat! I am so grateful and
proud! Thank you all!
We are raising funds to find a cure and treat children suffering from Juvenile
Arthritis and Uveitis. In order to keep the laboratory at UNSW open for
one more year, as well as assist in the caring and treatment for the children
suffering from Juvenile Arthritis/Uveitis, in excess of $120,000 needs to be
raised. This money goes entirely towards research to hopefully one day find the
causes for this disease, experiment with different treatments, help relieve the
pain and eventually find a cure. Research at the UNSW will cease if funding is
not continued, and this my friends is simply not an option. We need to help the
thousands of children suffering from this disease.
We will be holding a fundraising dinner on Friday 19th August 2016, hosted
by Channel 9 Today show presenter, Deborah Knight, at the Doltone House
Darling Island Wharf. In order to reach our target, we are looking for gifts
which could be sold through raffles and auctions on the night, as well as
corporate sponsorships. Please remember that every little bit helps.
